Brought a Kart off Ebay that needs a bit of work. It's an Allkart chassis with a 100cc MAC engine, cant find much info as to how old it is. Stripped Down After a few applications of screwfix paint and varnish remover, Good Stuff it managed to strip three layers of paint... Few coats of Simoniz Tough Paint,

That's awesome. Are you keeping that engine?
Looking forward to progress on this!

I have heard about the engines but not sure what kart it is. It's a bit new to be a historic kart but the Retro Racer race series cater for some of the newer karts so it might be worth looking on their website or facebook page for info.

An 85cc motocross engine would be mental in this, 6 speed sequential gearbox...

Just going to stick to the MAC engine, it's got good compression and runs ok.

Have you got somewhere to run it ? Might be worth finding out where you can use it if you haven't. I bought an old kart expecting to be able to take it up the local track. It was too old as it was and didn't have plastic bumpers and side pods. It was old enough to run at Historic meetings and take part in the race series once I had restored it properly though. This was build in 1979 and is one of the last eligible for the Historic kart club but I think some later karts are allowed to race so it might be worth looking into it.

My one is direct drive, the one jackass has is probably the same. They are a bit of a pain starting as it's best to get someone to give you a push but less to go wrong and lighter as well.

I was watching a couple of historic karts on eBay with a view to restoring one to run next year but they were all going out of my price range very quickly
