Now I'm sick of looking at it, having agreed a sale a month ago and then nothing having happened. Edit: Look, lots of HUGE pictures, and more in that there gallery linked, like the boot floor and spare wheel and stuff. Oh, yeah, if you're interested, PM me. If you comment and sound like you're interested I'll PM you. If you send a PM leave a number and a good time to call if you want to chat. Now sold and collected

I think that looks rather nice. Not a common colour and those wheels tend to make any bmw look goo.
Do you have any preference on what you might deal with car wise?

I really liked it in part for the colour combo. The wheels, when I had it on the road I had been looking for turbines - though when they're clean even with the non-original finish they do look pretty smart!
Car-wise - I'm open to many suggestions, but don't really like small, FWD things much. Everything has a value - what I like is generally "odd", but if someone dangled a tidy enough popular car in front of me I'm not going to turn it away just because it's not to my personal taste. Ideals for me would be almost anything Mercedes, a BMW Compact (I'd really like to give one a go), anything with a detachable/folding roof, or useful estate car/MPV things. Automatics will always get my attention.
Anything with at least 3 months MOT left on (or a good chance of passing without major work if shorter).
Bonus points if it's something '70s or '80s I can scribble about. I've got an itch for a Rover 200 Coupé or Convertible, would also be interested in a 306 Cabriolet with the right balance of 'broken' to be of the right value.

Ok well I have none of those things in one go, more like bits and pieces of your requirements in one "fantastic " machine.
I have a 2002 Mg zt V6 in ferrari racing red. Its technically not ferrari red but it sounds better. Has about 11 months mot on it and is a daily driver. Spent quite a bit for the mot, new rear springs, front brakes, few breather pipes replaced. Had to completely replace the interior due to common fault of sunroof drain leaking. Also had to replace airbag sensor at same time as it is under the carpet which is great.
The only issue it has really is a worn engine mount and the only reason I haven't sorted it is because it hasn't stopped it being perfectly usable as is.
Got 92k with some history, 2 remote keys and the joy associated with driving a rover 75 in a tracksuit

Finally going to get around to the dashboard fix this evening. The windy weather doesn't make going outside and working on the car appealing.

Just a quick question, what exactly do you mean by dancing headlights? Thanks

Headlight height adjusters would move erratically sometimes. The LCM needs cleaning or sorting, it's a common issue on E39s. They're also very picky about battery condition, so it could be infrequent use.

Wish I had the funds

I keep being told that, but the ones I have seen on eBay only fetch those figures if they're in really nice condition - these are presentable, sure, but they're the more common 17x8J (not staggered) and would really benefit from a refurb to show off the split-rim goodness. I'm happy to sell the car and know someone with more time and inclination can break it for more, thought the most obvious route for that messed me about somewhat.

In any of the paperwork, does it state the towing capacity of this bad boy?

Nope, nothing on the V5C there at all. I believe they'll handle 1800Kg braked from a quick Google, but I get confused about the GTW and legal limits (my licence predates the trailer test nonsense). It doesn't have the BMW optional towbar.

If this was closer to Manchester I'd have put my Fiesta up for sale for this!! This like a big bruiser of a car!!

Well, it seems the car gods are determined that this will stay here - two breakdowns yesterday, including a car originally on its way here to be swapped for the BMW!
So it's still available. A quick update on the LCM - it's unhappy. I think that when I went out one day and found the battery flat, it was not that a battery has been drained and thus, caused problems, it's that the LCM woke up and had a play with the lights in my absence, draining the battery. LCMs are cheap secondhand and I have INPA to code LCM and dashboard accordingly, but I really don't want to - just getting to the thing is annoying.
I see someone breaking an E38 and asking £525 for an engine with 20,000 more miles than this one! Maybe the sump on this is less suited to transplants, who knows.
Having been messed around rather a lot, it's now a case of "I will agree a price when you are standing in front of me with cash". No low offers accepted for convenience, no sending bank details then never getting payment. I'll also consider selling parts if you've got the ability to remove them, but I know the car is worth the £500 and more in bits, so would hope someone will just take the whole thing and they can make the extra out of it. If anyone wants the wheels I'll consider offers if I'm left with a set of metal round objects with tyres it can roll about on, as long as the tyres hold air for a day or two.
It starts and runs healthily and once the battery has been reinstalled for a while the lights begin to behave and the dashboard responds, but sometimes the dash flickers and if I have removed the battery there's a period without indicators/check panel with the headlights on regardless of switch position.
