Time to sell my old 9-3 (2.0 non turbo). Owned for 18 months. Bought this to get me through the winter of 2013/2014 and only meant to keep for 6 months or so.
£1544.69 spent by me over the last 18 months on this car.
Above doesn't include the tyres on the car - matching winter tyres "Nokian WR G2 215/55 R16 97H XL M+S marking " all round. All tryes between 5mm and 6mm tread. These cost me £516, though were initially on my old 9-5.
Car is very reliable though not very quick! Have travelled to Scotland and Wales in this as well as Hartlepool, Maidstone and many places in between. I'll be going to Margate in it tomorrow for a few days.
Body is very good as far as rust goes. Not aware of any rust on the body.
If you want to save miles on a nicer car but want to get where you're going, this is for you!
No warning lights on dash.
This is my second car (main car in edges of picture) though I've still managed to do around 14000 miles in the 18 months I've had it.
Following pics were took by Hallam and Suthern Saab when they were selling it - looks much the same now though I bought some mats and that sticker has gone from the dash. You can see the mark on the rear seat in the pic:
Not the swiftest as mentioned, but this car keeps going. From the midlands this has taken me to Glasgow, Maidstone, Hartlepool, Carlisle and many places in between. It's never failed to get to it's destination, though was close once when a cooling pipe burst close to home. Managed to get home and onto the Saab specialist, so that was all sorted with new pipes. No problem since (that was several thousand miles ago).
Can keep up with the modern Motorway traffic, though have to use the Sport button to keep up on hills sometimes!
Cloth Seats.
Electric windows all round.
Main problem I've had with the car is a knock on the suspension. I have spent a great deal more than the car is worth trying to get to the bottom of this, but none of the experts I've taken it too has managed to fix it. However, they have relieved me of much cash in the process.
Here is a quick rundown of what I've had done. Not sure if this is all the work that's been done, so will update if there are more invoices:
15/09/14 - 122452 miles - £247.08
Malcolm Miles Saab Specialist
Drive Shaft replaced
Oil light switch replaced (wasn't showing the oil light on starting the car - working now)
Replaced Gearbox Oil
MOT - expires 15/09/15
only advisory was "knocking noise from offside front shock" - doubt it's the shock as that's one of the many things that's been replaced
22/07/14 - 121706 miles - £268.56
Malcolm Miles Saab Specialist
Major service (Synthetic Oil, plugs, air filter etc)
24/02/14 - £551.46

19/10/13 - £232.59
Ashby & Mann Mitsubishi
Replace wheels with 16 inch wheels bought on Ebay - these have the winter tyres on
Replace O/S/F Spring Shock and Top mount
27/09/13
Replacement Headlamp unit s/h £24.00
27/9/13 - 114748 miles - £89.00
Ashby & Mann Mitsubishi
Oil Service
Condition:
Missing pixels on the SID and climate display.
Burn mark on rear seats (passenger side)
CD works though doesn't want to play after a couple of CD's. Thus it's fine for short journeys, though anything over 90 minutes or so and you're stuck with the radio. Radio on this is better than my main car which cost many, many pennies more than the Saab.
Engine pulls well (bear in mind it's a N/A 2.0 Auto) - Auto gearbox is fine.
I can easily get over 30mpg on a run - have had 34mpg when taking my time.
Sounds fairly farty due to a previous owner putting on a cheap exhaust.
Top of rear bumper could do with repainting.
Rear passenger door is stiff and requires a good yank to open.
Reading this makes me want to keep it, but I want something quicker and more interesting.

Made it to Margate with no problems - here it is by the Port of Ramsgate yesterday evening:
Car is at LE10 in Leicestershire.
May part exchange upwards (up to £1750) if you have something Automatic, front wheel or 4wd, fairly interesting and quicker than my 9-3! Something like a 2.0T 9-3 (prefer the hatch shape though there are hardly any around) / Saab 9-5 2.3t/T/Aero / Subaru Legacy/Outback 3.0 etc etc
