1996 fiat cinquecento sporting new project.

Hi all I have just picked this little fiat up for £200.
It needs a bit of bodywork on the n,s,r quarter but car is really solid apart from that .
The previous owner had spent over 400 pounds on parts doing it up so it shouldn't need much work for mot.
Plan is to get all bodywork done put some better wheels on it and just use it .
Original plan was to get a little moped but I thought for similar money I could run the little fiat .

Not yet still trying to aquire some parts, need new 4 new tyres a bit of welding and handbrake cable fitting but need to get this done soon also on the lookout for a n.s door as the old one is quite dented.

Just picked up another cinquecento sporting for a bargain price Bodywork wise it's in very good condition so going to do this one instead and sell on the yellow one if anyone is interested .

It might sound ruthless or whatever, but your best best is to strip the yellow one and keep the spares

There are a lot of hard to get parts for cinquecentos. I break cinquecentos and seicentos so know what is hard to find

You will struggle with:- speedo cables, rear bumper / exhaust brackets, headlights (a real problem), coolant hoses and so on. In time you will need to replace the boot catch, headlight switch, clutch arm (near the pedal), radiator fan, washer motors, wiper linkage, wiper motor, fuel tank. Also the headgaskets go regularly often because of overheating (more common on seicento with no temp gauge) and having a spare engine is a good idea

I agree with keeping a spare, i had one of these for quite some time years ago. It went from having a full on boot build (which probably weighed more than the car) to being a full on stripped out track toy with a 1242 punto lump. The original 1100 popped its head gasket within weeks and the radiator had literally no fins on it! It was my first hg change back when i was 18 and iirc it was really quite an easy job. They dent ridiculously easily and feel incredibly cheap, but with irs and no weight they are a right laugh

I had one of these as a stop gap years ago when my car got written off. Was scary in the wet. Used to sit on top of puddles rather than cut through them

I have decided to do the black one as it's in better condition than the yellow one .
I need to take some bits off the yellow one to put on the black one then going to sell the yellow one cheaply if anyone needs a spares car or project.
Here are some pics also black one has a tilt and slide sunroof are they common on the fiat's as the yellow one has a pop up sunroof.

The sunroof with the lever is more rare but a lot more reliable than the dial twist one

May have to sell one of the little fiat's as I need the space as they are on my mums drive and I need to move one.
Black fiat is a non runner due to a few bits missing but body is very straight I want £100 for that one.
Yellow car is a runner but has a few dents on the passenger side I want £200 for that one.
As I cannot decide which one to do whichever one sells first I will keep the other one.
