Braving the weather at RRG15

Friday:

The signs were good for the weekend.


After several hours helping mark out the field armed with stakes, club hammer and my accurate measuring feet, I headed for the campsite and set up. Had a good wander round as the field filled up.


















Phils bonkers Renault 8 with 5GT lump out back provided plenty of smiles.


Much BBQing was done before endless chatter and wandering to end the day.

Saturday:

A damp start turned to sunshine and lots of porky goodness was wrapped in buns and eaten.


After yet more lounging around a walk was in order.




Proving that stock is a winner too.










The Wartburg caused a stir with its bonkers set up. Rad behind the engine and a trio of coils on the inner wing. Oh and "handed door handles" the Emdee was amazed at!






With the temperature in the high 20s, the ice cream van was a welcome site.


Over in the paddock guest cars were arriving. The insane GN my car of the weekend.

I wandered up the hill to take a few snaps of the campsite. Pretty soon the waving people below pointing at the most evil cloud ever saw me rushing back down. Huge thanks to those that held firm on the old gazebo and kept it on the ground. We were far luckier than some and emerged half an hour later a little damp, but intact








With 8pm approaching it was tat auction time. Up in the courtyard, a great choice in the end that saw the campsite clear out and support under floodlights.




Many £££'s lighter, but with a pair of Autosport show tickets secured it was back to camp for more of the usual. The evenings seemed quieter and less hectic than previous years, perhaps the downpour helped!

Sunday:

Up and at em nice and early and with a promptish exit from the campsite, we still sat for an age in the queue.


Taking my place on the TAB stand I headed for the start line and the already underway morning session.


Thundersaloon Prelude looking a little under tyred at the rear?


BC doing sterling work as ever.




The Spider was a real treat. Six tyres probably equals a single wide rear of a modern hillclimb car. It was quick and lively.








The rest of the paddock was full of coolness.








As promised, some Seth spotting. I think hiding behind the bin gave me the element of surprise!

On route to the hill I caught up with TAB and we watched together. Good mix of cars this year and plenty of runs. The long gap for the Badford van off was understandable having see the amount of fencing the crew had to repair.

With food on my mind I headed back down to the camper. As I opened the door the heavens opened as well. Rain lashed down and I dived inside. The cry from Mr Bognor "room for a little one" meant I had company as we sat out the worst of it. As it eased we headed out for a walk.







Funniest 1331 I've ever seen!

With the weather worsening I decided to call it a day. One last walk of the paddock before a damp cruise home.










I slapped a slightly soggy sticker in the window and let all 49hp do its worst on the wet grass before swimming down the lanes towards Worcester. A qucik stop for fuel hilariously saw the filler cap key get stuck in the lock along with the rest of the bunch. Some WD40 and a good tug saw me right for the rest of the way home. A final high point as I was on the M4 was the sight of a low pass by teh Vulcan bomber on route home.



Another brilliant RRG. The weather was a pest at times and kept some cool cars away. But once again David, Keefy, Ian and the crew put on a great weekend. Lots of people I usually bump into were missed this year for one reason or another, but I met a few new faces and had a ball. Roll on 2016
