How is the anti jerk kit behaving? Considering getting one for my old wagon. every time I read this question I laugh - assuming it is an accessory that keeps idiot passengers/ stupid other drivers/ and people who want you to help them move away from the car. (and I wonder where I can buy one)

So, this little lot arrived in the post a few months ago - cooling mist water meth injection kit with the largest flowing nozzle they do - 1200cc per min.

Finding somewhere for the pump was a bit difficult, the hot side of the engines a bit busy....

The cold side was more promising, so I decided to stick it under the PAS pump on a stainless subframe rivnutted to the chassis rail. Once the area was drilled and repainted it was ready Trial fitment

The reason I mounted a subframe was so that I could isolate the potential N&V from the pump, the rivnuts serving to hold the frame in place and allowing the pump to be bolted up. You can see the rubbers here well, and now that I have tested it I can confirm that in operation its silent against the background noise of the engine. Super.

Then I removed the washer bottle to fit a 1/4” nylon pipe fitting - this is the feed to the pump. The plan is to use 50/50 WM for speed events, the rest of the time it will be boggo winter screen wash. The area under the washer bottle is a well known rust area on 124’s, just look at the amazing condition of this old girl!!! Washer bottle sporting her new orifice

Before i attached the electrical components (no ‘electronics’ as such) i tested them. The motor is activated by a simple switch that has a boost reference pipe, its a simple on/off affaire. Adjustable, upto about 25-30psi, theses switches have a bit of a reputation, so I thought ill set the activation point up on the bench using the compressor, multi meter and the ol’ power supply. I also checked the solenoid, then hard wired as much as i could inc ground - minimising the connectors used. Bracket made, grounded and Allen screws loctited in place. The final setup on the bench

Ok, bit of a minor tale of woe, however it did that typically human thing - it made me a bit mad and then re evaluate what i was doing - and i was doing something very wrong. Here i am turning a nozzle boss for the boost pipe Which i gave to the tig welder who did this to it.

....I sorted that mess out then painted the pipe and stuck some clamps on it - yup, 3.1 bar needs a lot of clampage.

The main problem is that i can’t weld alloy, that’s why i’m At the mercy of Mr Tig. But i can do steel and stainless. Oh why don’t i just make the pipes out of 3” tube? I’ve got loads of it! And it won’t flex like the alloy one does under boost and try and loosen the clamps. Durrrrrrrrrr. The only issue with stainless is its a bit heavy, but hey this is no caterham - I don’t really care if it weighs half a kg than 250g.
Thats settled.

All the other clamps are rotated/opposed, however where these clamp are is there is limited acces, however... you’re right. Ill get em sorted, I’m sure i can twist them a bit :-)

PAS pump back - looks like this now. This was finished on a late night... i had an appointment at the weekend... The next day i made up the ‘boost juice’

So i took her out for a videoed road test, I don’t look that impressed however i was listening hard to hear the pump going, which i could not. Over the next few road tests it’s clear that the new set up does as it promised. There is a boost in power, i’ll Have to get her on a RRoad to find out exactly how much. There is also a very welcome improvement in temperature control, infact i have yet to see 100c even after beasting her - and when i took her to Santa pod (first ever trip on the strip) the temp gauge did not move! Superb.
