Picked up a lovely 940 at the start of the month, 2 owners from new, full service history every MOT and Tax disc and pretty well looked after. Needs a few bits doing but over all a very tidy motor for the money (£590 with 12 months MOT). Waiting on a few bits arriving to turn the boost up and give it a mild tune up, in the mean time does anyone know of any Volvo breakers in NI that would have any bits? Seems to be one of those models that never die so there aren't many being broken over here. Its a bit rusty round the drivers wing and all the arches will need doing before winter kicks in properly. I know there are a few on here running these old wagons, abyone any advice on what to look for and what to do?
So far the To-do list includes: Lower 2 loops in the front, 2.5 in the back Boost up to 10-12psi boost gauge fitted General tune up (oil, filters, coolant etc) Source a 2nd rear ARB and fit in parallel with the current one Sort out the rust on the wing and around the arches Waxoyl arches and underside Source a locker diff or just weld the original one
Ultimately I wanted the car for the engine and box for my Capri project but it will do me for the year as a run about so I may as well enjoy it while I have it. I'll throw up photos tomorrow when its not as dark or miserable outside lol

Rust is lighter than Carbon Fibre which is why old Fords are so fast.

Had a bit of an oopsies today dialing in the boost, started off grand; found the point on the controller where it started turning it up, worked up to 8, all going fine so gave it another wee turn, all of a sudden the gauge says 13 psi followed by a nice bang and then some coasting. The offending item Looks like the jubilee clamp let go so new one fitted and backed the controller off to 8 psi for the mean time. Will chop the springs next week and measure up for fitting the cherrybomb out the side.

Looking good, if you check out my project I've fitted double rear ARB's, really worthwhile mod. In regards to lowering, these rub on the back before the front and you want to cut more off the front rather than the rear. I've done 2 front 1 rear and it sits just flush with the arches

What about this Capri. You'll have to get a thread up on it.

What about this Capri. You'll have to get a thread up on it. The Capri has been retired in favor of a newer shell so I will have a full build thread on it in the coming year hopefully, old shell finally kicked the bucket so time to build this one bigger and better Get some Mikalor clamps on there. Long term the goal is hardpipe as much as possible and anything i can't do in aluminium is to be silicon with Mikalors, still running the OEM pipes and there is serious flex in them so its on the list lol

RIP to the Lolvo, she served me well and probably saved my life. Stolen car in Belfast on Monday night decided it wanted to park itself in the drivers side windscreen. Scared the absolute dung out of me, but unfortunately it means the Volvo is Cat A or B and needs to be scrapped they want me to pay £290 to get it back so I said they can keep it broke my wee heart to do it but I just don't have the funds to pay out on a car I cant drive until the police catch the driver I am out of pocket.

Oh hell thats absolutely awful. I saw that on the news and wondered if it was yours. Hope you're ok mate. Of course the scumbags in the stolen car got away. Typical. Lets hope they're exceedingly sore today after rolling the Vauxhall. That's mine and yours wrecked by joyriders within 6 months. At least I wasnt in mine.

Luckily our airbags didn't go off, my bake is ugly enough without two black eyes but if anyone see's 3 hoods round Belfast with swollen lips, black eyes and broken noses then let the PSNI know haha, whether they get caught or not the claim is uninsured so its a nightmare :/ could have been a lot worse so i suppose that's the important thing

Spotted pictures of your car on the Volvo owners club forum, didn't know the car belonged to someone on here. Glad to hear you are OK.

Christ. Glad you're ok.
I was hit by a lorry on the M5 in my retro back in October which left it as a Cat B, I worry that if it was something newer perhaps it wouldn't have stood up as well as it did!
This is why we pay insurance, so hopefully you'll be back on your feet with another retro.

The Beemer in front had all the airbags deployed and the front suspension failed and planted the car on the ground..... the Volvo was still running after the crash and realistically if it wasn't for the roof being damaged I could have driven it away lol. luckily/unluckily I bought a Vectra less than 24 hours prior so I'm not stuck but it just isn't the same as a good old volvo
