Thought I would post this up on here as its always good to get constructive feedback and ideas from others, and i guess some people might find it interesting ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I have had my 4.0 Chimaera for a while now. It has 115,000 miles on the clock and is making around 220bhp. The car is very well sorted with a fresh chassis, upgraded Cosworth front brakes, polybushes all round and Gaz Gold coilovers. It just needs a bit more power ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Last year i converted it to run Megasquirt fuel and ignition so engine management wise I am sorted, will just need bigger injectors. I did dabble with the idea of getting shot and buying a Cerbera or Tuscan but I have had the little Chim over 6 years now and I know I would regret selling it, hence the current plan! Over the winter I will be fitting it with a single turbo, and getting the engine fully rebuilt with big valve heads but otherwise standard. The aim is to get around 400bhp at 12psi which I am sure will be plenty in a 1050kg car. I'm sure plans will evolve and extra bits will be done but I will document it all here. Anyways enough blabbing. Here is the car when we drove it to Norway a few years ago: ![](http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr353/lewis_sharman/10501927_10154350624290321_3156739771961162333_n_zpsj9cx7z8p.jpg) And at Snetterton in November: ![](http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr353/lewis_sharman/DSC_2433_zpsd4u3ncqq.jpg) ![](http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr353/lewis_sharman/DSC_1870_zpsa2o6174h.jpg) This turned up a couple of days ago. It only just fits in the engine bay and I have ordered up the pipework to make the new manifold, but I doubt it will get here before Christmas. I was planning on modifying the Decat y-piece I already have in there but I think it will end up better if i just make one from scratch (not that I have ever done it before!). The turbo is a Holset HX35 copy with a water cooled core, made and balanced in England with parts sourced from the UK and USA. It has a standard T3 flange so if i feel the need to upgrade to a Garrett in the future it will be an easy swap. ![](http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr353/lewis_sharman/12341437_10156337976470321_3892154111379471293_n_zps4pyarq6g.jpg)

I saw the title and straight away thought a nice big holset would be perfect. Is it twin scroll and will you be keeping it twin scroll?

Cheers guys ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Yes the Pheasant met an unfortunate demise (and feathers washed and dried for xmas decorations) The turbo is twin scroll (12cm) but it will just be fed from a single collector, I already has a Clive F y-piece that I was looking to modify but now I have the turbo I realise it will be easier to start from scratch. I have spoken to him about making a new turbo y-piece but am still awaiting a reply, and as you say half of the fun is doing it myself and I already have some pipework on order ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I have done the calculations and sized an intercooler now (600 x 280 x 76) but want to get the harder (hot side) pipework completed first. I'm off on holiday until the 29th so not a lot will be happening until the new year.

Very cool, I love the look of a TVR and to add a turbo, is even cooler. Was that an automotive pun?

Love TVRs! Will it lose some of the awesome TVR noise with a turbo?

That wastegate will only see flow from one side of the twin scroll housing so won't work to keep boost under control . I ran one with the internal gate and suffered with boost creep until I bored through the housing to get flow from both sides . At lower boost levels you'll really need a 45-50mm external gate to keep boost levels down

Great project, well done for having the balls to modify it and make it better ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) From my experience, you would be better keeping those two flows divorced right up to the turbine, it will improve the boost threshold significantly. Is yours the type of TVR that has the manifold running forwards in front of the engine before collecting and running backwards?

I think they are, will maybe make turbo attachment easier? ![](http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h272/agentb0b/engine-bay-before_zpspes82zlm.jpg) Startled Turbo Cat is startled! Sure you wouldn't prefer a LS swap? I can hook you up with an engine ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I was planning on using an external wastegate and have been looking at the best way to remove and weld up the original, but that doesn't look too bad really. Apparently the turbo doesn't reduce the sound too much on these which is good (even though at the moment it is quite loud with a full decat and half sleeved silencer!) I did briefly look at an LS swap which would be great but I priced that up too and is a MUCH more expensive way to go. This is from the NA remapping a few months ago to get an idea of sound atm. Should be great with some turbo ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Best of luck with the build!
