Old taxis still in service

I've often spotted this little number running around Barcelona, and it's recently appeared in the news as being the oldest in the city with a million kilometres. It's a 1990 Renault 21 diesel.

I was wondering if anyone else has pictures of rather old taxis still running around in various towns and cities across the world.

There's a pretty mint looking 92/93 Volvo 7 series saloon still bussing round ipswich. I don't have a pic but trigger might.

There is a old boy using a Volvo 245 around here.was mint but the last time I saw it had picked up some damage down one side.

I guess in theory there could be some Old-ish ones in the UK? My next door neighbour is a cabbie, and said that a mini cab can't be older than 6 years when u first register it for use? So in theory you could then keep using it until it breaks?

Depends on the local councils rules .

Our council only allows upto 11 yrs old .

Some are absolutley hanging by then , but theres a few that could easily go for another few years

Put the registration into the total car check website. See what the miles are on it

I think this has been bought up on here before. Peugeot 505 estate with over 2 million miles on it rolling around Bournemouth. He had a mk3 tina before with over a million miles on it.

I think the oldest taxi in MK is gonna be a 4yo Prius..

I put the details in the MOT history checker and it reported back to say that there was no data on record. I took the picture about 10 months back, but had seen the car only a few months back. The car had a private plate on it in the picture so that could have been transferred off.

Taxis don't need to have a VOSA MOT , just the taxi inspection test .

Not many taxis have both done , so doubt you'll find the mileage that way .

I remember the yellow Mk3, still looked mint on the final days of use.

Depends what area it is registered in, most Hackney (street hire) taxi's have to be a certain age but private hire cars can be any age. In Winchester, Southampton and Portsmouth there is no age limit for registering a private hire it just has to pass the councils annual checks.

My dad ran one if the last of the old fx4 taxis registered in 1971, he ran it until the mid eighties ? when the carriage office deemed it to old , it was mint when he sold it EYK 442J seems to have gone to the great yard in the sky though now

sorry to bump an extremely old topic, but the famous Peugeot 505 Taxi has appeared on Ebay, no mention of mileage but it must be ridiculously high, as is the price
