1998 Vauxhall Omega Tourer 2.5 V6 in need of loving home. Manual. MOT August 2016. Good condition but with the odd parking marks and dents to be expected at this age and a couple of small cosmetic rust marks starting to appear. 105,000 miles. Vauxhall handbook along with some service history. Alloy wheels. Still has brand new spare along with original Vauxhall jack and first aid kit. It also has the Vauxhall luggage net and load cover. Electric front windows and sunroof. Central locking. Very reliable and comfortable and an excellent high speed motorway cruiser. These are starting to become quite rare now but are still a practical and usable appreciating classic. As stated, it is now in need of a loving home where it will get some TLC. It has the usual rocker cover oil leaks and has unfortunately developed an occasional misfire. It is also in need of three new tyres. Unfortunately I need to be able to use the car daily so whilst it is still supremely reliable, it could benefit from a full service and some general love and attention. I'm after £310 for it but am open to offers as this needs to go to make space for my next project and it would be a shame to scrap it. Please contact me if you wish to view or want more detail and I will get back to you. Thank you. Ian

Wish this was up for sale before Christmas! Just re insured my hilux so can't justify swapping insurance, again. Can't see it hanging around long!

Appreciate it's a cheap car but is there any indication of when the timing belt was last changed?

According to the service history, which goes up to 91,885 miles, it was changed on 04/08/04 at 69,601 miles. Service book says it should be changed every 80,000 miles so still okay.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the (original) radio/cassette player doesn't currently work as battery was disconnected and I refuse to pay Vauxhall £30 to find the code out. I could buy a semi decent CD player for less!

Not to put anyone off a £300 car, but I've just got to point out that cambelt changes (and general servicing) has a time limit, as well as mileage. So cambelt may be 80k miles, but it'll be 'or 4 years' for example. Sorry to be a gimp, but I had to point it out. Feel free to delete.
Best of luck with the sale, always liked Omegas.

Thanks for the input but......it is a lot of car for not a lot of money, especially if you do your own spannering.

It's a risk you take on a running £300 car with Mot.
Sure they are available with new belts fitted for close to a grand.

Good old barges these, massive load area. I owned both the estate and saloon versions. Like sitting in your armchair at home, those seats are so comfy

Just to clarify, I wouldn't be looking at a £300 motor expecting belts changed. I agree with your point, but I just wanted to point out that servicing has a time aswell as mileage limit.

Just a thought, if the rocker cover is leaking oil, could it be going in the spark plug wells and causing it ??

Not really helpful on a for sale thread to point out possible flaws with a car when you're not the seller.
