*REDUCED* 2000 Subaru Forester Turbo S - Batley - SOLD

After owning the Forester for just over two months, I'm putting it up for sale. The main reason being the fuel consumption, 25mpg is just not what I'm used to, coming from a TDI Golf. I really like everything about the car, except the engine. I fear I've spent too much time in diesels

Whilst in my ownership I experienced a breakdown caused by a split in the top hose to the radiator. Luckily, I managed to stop before it caused any further damage. I have fitted a second hand top hose and replaced the coolant with Halfords 5 Years OAT & Subaru Coolant Conditioner.

After carrying out the coolant system repairs, the car decided it didn't want to charge the battery (I believe the alternator may have been damaged when the engine bay was soaked with coolant mixture). I have subsequently replaced the alternator with a second hand item and now it is charging properly.

I've had some feedback via some other forums and I believe I may have priced this a little high.

I've reduced it down to £850.

With the car being so close to requiring a timing belt, the kit is around £150 with a "better quality" belt so I have reduced it accordingly.

The windscreen can be fixed on insurance for free or a small excess without it affecting your no claims.





The interior colour, I'm afraid, cannot be fixed

Are you looking for another diesel to replace?

I have a fairly nice (as they go) Passat TDI Sport B5, I'm getting a steady 65MPG out of it infact it's off to France with me in a few days time.

Cosmetically pretty good, interior is tidy bar a small bit of wear on drivers seat bolster, mechanically outstanding (it's been my daily workhorse so had everything it's ever needed) cambelt is good for another 15K. Serviced every 4k.

It's a saloon, back seats do fold though.

It's a horrible car, but frustratingly good at everything, sticks to the road well, comfy, surprisingly quick, stupid mpg and boringly reliable. Eats miles very well and I have a towbar fitted and a pair of Thule roofbars.

Unfortunately, I got rid of a saloon to get the Subaru. There just wasn't enough boot space for what I need.

I can't deny it's been a problem in the past, it depends what you carry, the time I really struggled was when I had to get a full panel set (2 doors, 2 full rear wings, bootlid, front wings and bonnet) for an MGBGT in it and leave room for a passenger, they did go in but the bonnet was a pain as it wouldn't go through the the boot entrance, but it did fit in through the rear door so was good in the end, but for smaller stuff like boxes etc. It holds a huge amount, the boots massive and the back seat space is huge, they are longer wheel base than Audi A4s and it does show, I recently moved house in it and it wasn't the nightmare you would think.

As said I'm off on hol in it back on the 20th, if your still stuck with the Subaru and have changed your mind pm me and we can meet up and have a look.
