Seat Leon 1.8 20v T Cupra 180bhp - New Cambelt + Water Pump - MOT 25 November 2016 - In the best colour !!
**Reduced AGAIN for a quick sale **
This vehicle is offered for sale on a spares or repairs basis and no warranty is given or implied. Any inspection welcome. This does not need to set any alarm bells ringing, it is just because although this was purchased for my own use i am a trader and cannot sell a car on trade terms and then give a guarantee ( If i wanted to do this i would have the flywheel replaced then advertise for around £1200 which is the typical price for one of this mileage. ) I hope that my honest ( perhaps a bit too honest ) appraisal of the vehicle will assure people that they would be buying a vehicle needing a bit of work but it is entirely worth doing and what 15 year old car doesn't have a list of faults ( other than the ones on facebook listed as being ' mint ' ?
The good: 115,859 miles ( low for a 15 year old car ) Lots of service history ( full seat main dealer stamped until 2008 - then a good few invoices since. ) One of the invoices is for the fitting of a turbo, catalyst and exhaust sytem.
October 2015 - A new timing belt kit, hydraulic damper, thermostat and water pump was fitted along with a new Auxilary belt ( Cost around £300 ). A new ball-joint was fitted prior to a new MOT certificate being issued with no advisory notices.
A full service was also carried out along with a few fairly typical Leon faults being rectified at the same time like a replacement oil dipstick being fitted. Also the glovebox lid was replaced due to a broken handle.
The car only came with one key so I have obtained a new flip style spare key that both unlocks and starts the vehicle.
HPI checked and clear.
Unusual specification includes the rare automatic wipers, auto-dimming rear view mirror and ESP system.
Now for the bad: The flywheel is sometimes noisy until the clutch pedal is depressed- i've seen new LUK flywheel/clutch kits at £250.
At some time the car has had some paintwork ( after 15 years i believe most vehicles have ) and there is a colour difference between the front bumper and bonnet, there are couple of minor parking dents ( see images for the worst one ) and the nearside rear wheelarch has some bubbling under the paint.
The A/C display is faulty ( easily found on ebay ) and the radio has decided to stop working ( maybe a fuse or loose connection ).
One of the front foglights is smashed and one rear light is cracked ( both cheap on Ebay )A couple of rear headrests are missing as is the spare wheel although the jack kit is there. ( I do have a black leather interior with electric front seats, rear bench and door cards available if the buyer wants to upgrade - £250 extra )
There may be other faults although I have tried to be as honest as I can about a bargain vehicle, these will become classics in the future and this is a cheap way to buy one that has had some of the expensive maintenance jobs taken care of.
Air-Conditioning, Adjustable Steering Column/Wheel, Seat Height Adjustment, In Car Entertainment (Radio/Cassette), Electric Windows (Front/Rear), Climate Control, Upholstery Cloth, Alloy Wheels (16in), Power Socket,
Air Bag Driver, Deadlocks, Alarm, Front Fog Lights, Air Bag Passenger, Head Restraints, Centre Rear Seat Belt, Central Door Locking,
Air Bag Side, Anti-Lock Brakes, Immobiliser, Power-Assisted Steering, Traction Control System, Electronic Stability Program.
Update...... Following agreeing a deal with a buyer last week I took the car out for a run as it had been stood a few weeks.
Unfortunately the oil warning light came on a couple of times and then instantly went off when switched off and restarted.
The car didn't do this before I replaced the oil dipstick and tube due to it having crumbled into pieces, I thought I had manged to remove the remainder of the old one without dropping any bits into the sump but it would appear not. This probably means it needs the sump dropping, cleaning out and refitting. The old oil when dropped was in good nick so I don't believe that the stariner is blocked by sludge which is a known issue facing 1.8 T engines that are not maintained regularly, however even if it is found to be gunged up they can easily be replaced or chucked in a tub of petrol and cleaned out.
So due to it needing another couple of hours of work I am reducing the price, I have had lots of interest and some ridiculous offers and I am already losing money on her so I'm not prepared to be lo-balled by prospective buyers, like many older cars this is worth more in bits. I have bought a couple of these recently and had the timing belt kit, hydraulic tensioner, thermostat, coolant flush, aux belt and a metal impeller german water pump fitted as I would not run one of these engines without knowing this has been done, so in this case after deducting the cost of this essential work ( around £300 - Invoices can be provided ) it is like paying £300 for the base car prior to the work which i challenge anyone to find a HPI clear car with a long MOT.
