My brother is selling his Lotus Senator which is the same as an Lotus Carlton apart from the body, dash and it as auto gearbox (which feels better than my Lotus Carlton manual box). 52k 3.6lt twin turbo no rust any where on the shell around 380/400 bhp Lotus and GM did the design for the Lotus Senator and at the sec GM went with the Carlton with the plan off doing the Senator later but the 90 resonation stopped that. We replaced the front disc's, pads, seals, rings and installed the stainless steel piston cost of parts £750 The owner before replaced both turbo's uprated timing chains new guides stage 2 head etc.
Its been sat in my lock up for a few years now and my brother has never used it, I need the space so its up for sale, in parts alone its would sell very well but he does not want to break such a rare car up with it being the only one.

Presuming this is in Rotherham with you? You'll need to put this in the thread title, along with a price.

I used to own this car.
The original concept from Vauxhall was to build a Lotus Senator, not a Carlton. The project got as far as the drawing board but Vauxhall then considered that the Senator wasn't sporty enough so switched to the Carlton. The creator of this car owned a Lotus Carlton (which I eventually purchased) but decided he wanted to create the original concept car. He purchased a LHD Lotus Carlton (Lotus Omega) and a 24v Senator. Neither of these were crashed cars! He then handed both over to his trusted motor engineers along with the Lotus Senator concept drawings and said "build me this - but I want it with an auto gearbox". Sometime later, the Lotus Senator emerged. And I ended up owning that too.
Anyway, I can provide more details via PM if required. It's an amazing car to drive. The auto box really suits it and the acceleration is seemless. No pauses in acceleration to change gear unlike the Lotus Calton.

What a machine and at that price, worth every penny. The Lotus Carlton is one of my all time dream cars.
Imagine how much that would cost to create nowadays, given that the cost of a decent Lotus Carlton is £25k+!
GLWS - and I really hope it doesn't get broken for spares - it has to be a worthwhile investment? Someone please save it!

Its to good to break for spares but it might happen, engine and all the running gear would sell for a good price, so its a cheap lotus Carlton

Hi I think I must be repeating myself, but I have a question for " bargain bucket " I am a bit interested in this car, but there seem to be a lot of things to worry about, mainly 1. 0) the variable mileages on its mot records, and 2.0) wher the components from written off cars or what . How long did you have the car for and when did you move it on, are there any particular issues with it that you are aware of.
I would be quite keen on the Carlton, but manual gearbox, I don't think so.
This car would be the answer. If it was a senator factory built car, I would buy it tomorrow, but there again it would then be too expensive...A car dilemma !
Thanks coinso

I think it says up above that both were straight cars when built, sounds an immense machine. Lots of errors on mot records, I had to get one amended on my Subaru that showed 97000 miles instead of the 79000 it had done. It's not a very robust system as the data is typed in manually and hence mistakes happen.

Lot of car for the money!
MOT mileage 'errors' may be put down to the fact that the personal reg may have been swapped between cars.
