Can I have some opinions please.
I've seen two American trucks I like to get me into American vehicle ownership (i'd love to dive straight into an old hot rod or 57 Chevy but funds won't allow anything near that)
One is a 70's single cab that looks very original and is tax exempt, the other is a later 80's model but also has the rear cab seats so can take 6 people if needed meaning its much more versatile.
Head says double cab, heart says 70's styling and looks.
help !!!

Go by condition. US seem to love filler in the bucketful so check carefully. Even relatively modern (say 10 year old) US trucks can be suffering with severe rot as they seem to be classed as disposable. If they have a chassis check just behind cab as this is the main stress point and in bad cases where the chassis breaks ! Welded cracks or overplating in this area and I'd walk away

Consider the practical side of owning a crew cab, they are quite hard to park in normal spaces where as a single cab, whilst still large is a little easier to use. My single cab C10 doesn't fit in a normal supermarket space..... P.

According to w*k*p*d** (so have that pinch of salt on standby) a 70s 1/ton single cab pickup is actually a tiny bit shorter than a Range Rover, so it should fit in most parking bays at a squeeze. Alternatively if you want the retro looks with the passenger space you could find a Blazer.

My T5 never fitted in a supermarket parking space as it was difficult to open the doors.
I just used to straddle the white line
Sometimes you have to buy with the heart otherwise you just end up with sensible vehicles and wheres the fun in that lol

Thanks everyone for their opinion.
The crew cab sold and I showed my kids the other one and both said "ermmm, its ok (ish)" then both said "Dad just get a C10, you know that's what you want"
How can I argue with that!!

Buy them both! Mr S had this dilemma so now owns a 70's Blazer and a 90's Suburban (they don't really get much bigger than this) He'll be a good person to talk to
