Picked up this little car in may this year, it was local to me. It's a one owner car the guys had it for 18 years and it's done £47k miles. It's a fairly tidy little motor with the usual areas needing attention on the inner wings. Paint work is very good and all original. Plans are to get the bad areas sorted and probably paint the engine bay. Strip off the head as it's leaking oil from the head gasket. My main focus is to get the inner wings sorted out first and paint the engine bay. Pics of the car from the advert.

Where I'm up to now. Things have been slow as I have been trying find genuine peugoet inner wings. The drivers side is available still but the passengers side is not available from anywhere. Anyway I managed to source a new passengers side inner wing after searching for 6 months so it's gave me the kick in the backside I needed. Started cleaning up the chassis legs although just farting about today as I'm on call and I'm waiting for some new spot weld drills to come to remove the inner arches.

You don't mention what year it is but as the previous guy had it for 18 years... doing some sums... I'll assume it's from 1998?
Probably won't be any of these left soon judging by the amount of rot. And this was a well cared for one? Wishing you luck.

Best bet is a doner car for a inner wing then .

Yeh mate its a 1998 on an R. It's only the inner wings that's gone on it the rest is solid. The metal is so thin on the inner wings it's unreal. I have brand new genuine inner wings now so no need for a donner car although I thought I would need one as the passengers side inner arch was a nightmare to get. The rest is really just surface rust and looks worse than it is too be honest.

Are you sure its not leaking from the cam ladders and not the head gasket?
Looks like a good example

Nice to see one saved, I don't really think of these at being retro yet, but thats a sign I'm becoming an old git and before we know it they will all be gone. I think they're really going to really go up in value in a few years.

I'm the same mate too be honest but it's 18 years old now so nearly retro.

I didn't mean to come across as criticising it being on here, just sometimes you open a post and think, curse word, that's nearly 20 years old, where has all the time gone! They are ace little cars and pretty nice to work on if the lower spec versions are anything to go on, I remember doing a clutch on one and you could get away with just shifting the box to one side pretty much.

It's OK mate I knew what you were meaning no offence taken or anything I think exact same way. I can remember them being new and I'm only 34. I agree it's pretty easy to work on the engine was easy to take out a couple of multi plugs, a few wires and a handful of bolts. Plan is all new suspension shocks and springs Driveshaft Brakes Clutch Droplinks Wishbones Track rod ends Basically anything I can change I will. Although I'm not going for concourse just a nice usable car that will be good for years to come. May as well replace the parts when they are still easy enough to get hold of.

I think they're really going to really go up in value in a few years. I had the same thought. But then when something has got good rust and hit rock bottom prices it becomes retro by default. I say that because I'm tackling the '99 Tigra. Different century mate! Becoming an old git I know about. That made me laugh. Anyway, I wanted to mention that the bloke opposite where I live has got an electric version of the 106 from the 90s.

Cut out the rot under the engine mount. To be honest I'm glad I removed the engine mount now after seeing what was under it. Good news is everything else looks good even the strengthener that's inside the chassis leg as this can rot out.

It is good to see this being restored well! When I saw the shot of the wings off I thought "What the hell is the guy doing" until I read the rest of the thread! I dread to think what this is costing you but I am sure it will be one of the straighter and more rot-free cars about .

Great to see another being restored, I restored one as well 2 years ago.. www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=339208Great little cars and once people have got over the image that these and Saxo VTS had gained, they will certainly start to be appreciated more.
