I was going to wait until I had this finished off and cleaned before posting but figure I might as well get it posted now as I want it gone!
So I bought this touring recently as I wanted a black interior for my other touring. I've done the swap and now this needs to go so I can have my driveway space back.
Its a 1994 E34 touring, with a 2.5 straight 6, turbo intercooled Diesel engine, mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission. I drove this car back from near Southampton to the midlands, and the engine felt strong, autobox seems to shift through the gears as it should, 5th gear is very long so ideal for motorway cruising. The autos are said to be more economical than the manuals.
The interior is now grey leather as taken from my 520i. The condition of the bits I've swapped in is generally better than the stuff I took out in many cases! however the head lining is original to the car and is peeling away at the top of the windscreen and on the front sunroof panel.
The sunroof doesn't work, it appears to be a mechanical rather than electrical issue, but its closed and doesn't leak.
It has a towbar fitted with some electrics, I can't vouch for these working as I don't have a trailer to test on it.
Looking at the recent MOT history, its had some welding to get through the last MOT (@197k miles) but as I was buying it just for the interior, I've not looked underneath so can't comment on how it would fare at the next MOT.
As I say, I drove it back from the south coast and it felt fine, didn't notice the typical E34 55-60mph 'shimmy' (which my 520i exhibits.. )
The only issue was it conked out on me as I got down to about a 1/4 tank of Diesel, common issue with an O ring under the lift pump which fails and lets air into the lines when the tank gets low. I've got an O ring which I'll be fitting this weekend to sort this, just thought it worth mentioning. The car has a full tank of BP's finest diesel in any case..
I feel like I'm waffling a bit now, ask if you want any more info/if theres anything glaringly obvious I've missed. I'll be fitting the rest of the interior and sorting the o ring this weekend at which point it'll be ready to go and I'll get some more photos
Car is SORN'd so you'll need to tax it before driving away
Cheers
