Hello, I'm told this is the place for things like my Mk1 Cav. I bought it last month and after an eventful journey from Ipswich to Whitstable (no ability to idle) its been sat until last week. It's done 49k miles from new and barely ran. The previous owner (practical classics - Danny Hopkins) had managed to get it running with an old Weber DGV. I've replaced just about everything I could to get it to idle. New Weber DGV with correct jetting and all new ignition bits. After many a cold evening of fettling I got it to just about idle well enough to drive it to BD Engineering where it was tuned properly on their rolling road yesterday. To everyones amazement it made 87.4bhp and 94.5lbft on the last run, after a jet alteration on having the timing set at 6 degrees advance. Yesterday afternoon I set about fixing the compression issues noted at BD Engineering and got 145 to 150psi on all 4 cylinders! No idea how it left the factory with 75hp and has ended up with so much more, must have been the junk Solex carb they fitted. Rebuild kits seem to be a thing of the past for this dizzy so I've ordered a brand new one to cure the weak springs that hold the idle up after heavy loads. The attention I now have from middle age men is uncanny much to the amusement of my retro car-savvy partner. She is my head-turning super clean beige dream. More to come as I decide what to do with it Cheers, Cat

That is a beauty and what a fantastic colour! Forgot to mention that its a 1600 not a 1900 and making that power! Thank you kindly! I gathered that it's a 1600 when you mentioned 75bhp and crappy Solex carb! My car is also a 1600, and benefitted greatly from being fitted with a nice new DGV. I've been doing a few littel jobs here and there, namely fitting a little rev counter, lowering her and fitting some new wheels. Here's some pictures that'll make things clearer... Moody shot post lowering pre wheels Cheeky little rev counter Something to eat your dinner off Ohhhh dish! Looking tidy now!

I'll post a build thread on the range rover. Loads of changes to that as you can probably guess. It's a made up special edition we've titled South Pacific Edition, it's got a crazy pineapple interior to match the satin blue paint work and white walls....
