This is my new general thread. Going to keep the Goddess, Healey, Pitstop and SpridJET threads going but all other stuff including SWMBO's Defender, gin, beer, sheep and pigs, turbines etc. will gravitate here. First up, you may remember this, a blinged-up Dolly with registration issues that has been sat in the back of the Lair for a year due to the Blue Ripple getting the Cinderella treatment and going to Malta with Pitstop. So what to do with it? Well, we have a plan, Dangerous and the Gas Axe Kid have indicated that they will lend a hand and I'll leave these pics here while we firm everything up.

Don't care what you put in it. Just reading the likely contents means it's bookmarked as a matter of principle! I used to really enjoy an old thread that got to discussing the idiosyncrasies of goats, when it disappeared. Hopefully this ones a keeper? P.S. The plans for the CV look interesting too. P.P.S. Found the goat thread! Seems the OP or someone, deleted much of it. Shame, it had huge potential, I felt. retrorides.proboards.com/thread/173791/sulliis-progress

A goat with a gas turbine, powered by gin? Or just use the methanol you'd usually throw out as heads.

A goat with a gas turbine, powered by gin? Or just use the methanol you'd usually throw out as heads. No methanol or I might use it 50/50 with water as turbine cooling fluid. My gin is compounded, so no distillation as you get as neutral a grain spirit as possible, usually cheap vodka, then you steep your botanicals in various mixes and times and what comes out is your own gin. There's a trick to filtering it to get any oilyness out from the citrus peels and the vodka leaving just bright but coloured gin. The trouble is that I don't drink gin and tonic so I'm like a blind painter but the results have been pretty good according to the volunteer tasters. The present batch was supposed to be a floral spring gin but the tasting panel reckon it should be a Christmas gin as it has hints of plum pudding. I shall use the same method for the next festive season but crank up the cinnamon and allspice a bit. 2.5 litres down in 2 weeks, just 2.5 litres left until the next batch

Do the snail plans include 4 driven wheels? If so is it going to be twin engine or a Barbour transmission job?

I am curious as to why you make gin if you don't drink it? Why not a more self-appreciated beverage?

I am curious as to why you make gin if you don't drink it? Why not a more self-appreciated beverage? As with all the threads he starts, I will be a follower.. I guess maki the gin, is a bit like me, not having a musical note in my body, yet makin a few instruments in the past. A lot of the stuff I make in the wood shed and garage, also just gets given away. Often the challenge is in the production, not consumption.

After a sh1t day with the Goddess brakes yesterday I had to meet up with my friend Rob and SWMBO down at the Volcano Lair. The Lair contains many projects and departments including 'The Pit of Doom' where we store stuff for the kids that they don't want thrown away but don't want to keep in their own homes (bastards), 'The Skunkworks' which is more a comment on the drains in this hot weather rather than leading edge automotive development and my particular favourite of the moment, 'Evil Labs Inc' and the one particular project there was coming up to the testing phase. I'd been promising for years to do something with the local carnival for charity and the Goddess not running has dished those hopes comprehensively. Consultations on the viability of having frickin' sharks with laser beams in the carnival procession led to nowhere as ‘Elf and Safetee' were appalled so we decided that, being on the Jurassic Coast, that a T-Rex breeding programme should be undertaken immediately (there was much beer involved in that decision-making process). Having absolutely no background in paleo-genetics I found that a Paypal account and Ebay could give us a reasonable facsimile. We have two inflatable T-Rex suits, some volunteer Dino wranglers and SWMBO's camo Defender to carry the number of AA batteries we're going to need for the 4 air pumps to keep the suits inflated. I don't think the carnival committee realise what they're taking on

I've got a similar costume, but it's Baymax from Big Hero 6. It was great in summer as it's like sitting in an air conditioned suit.

Last week was "Sack, Back and Crack" time for the sheep. Being a very small flock (a flockette?) we have to wait for our neighbours to get their sheep shorn and slide ours in. The shearer is retired and really only does it as a favour at £2.50 each and when he gives up I'm going to have to learn how to do it myself as none of the commercial shearers will touch our numbers. Setting up the hurdles Our girls waiting for the chop Some of the neighbours sheep Our sheep got done first Shearer and admirers With the warm spring there has been a persistent fly strike problem. We've dagged and clatted most of them i.e cut the sh1t encrusted wool around their back ends to prevent flies laying eggs in the fleece. The eggs hatch and then the maggots migrate to the nearest food source and start eating the sheep alive. In the old days you could dip them but today its a topical treatment that only lasts six weeks. SWMBO's favourite sheep, Rudi had slight strike with just surface nibbling but with some sheep they are deep in the flesh. Death can occur in as little as two days but if you catch them right you can use a pour-on and watch the maggots boil out of the flesh Then you have a good stomping session to redress the balance of good and evil. It's clobbering time, maggots Nearly in our birthday suits

What a day! Rain, dry, more rain, dino suit malfunctions, one suit down due to battery problems, other suit only kept going with cannibalisation of parts from first suit, second prize in the walking category, invites to other Carnivals and redesign of power units and air pumps using ducted fans instead of impellers for next year! Yes, that is a child in a giant crab costume pinching the T-Rex's rse. www.facebook.com/164716986950709/videos/1550529968369397/

VOLCANO LAIR LATE SUMMER ( so I must get back to skool! ) QUIZ Next Tuesday should everything go right there will be a new inmate of the Volcano Lair. Like all the best offspring it was unplanned and involved the swapping of 2 sheep, an old horsebox and an retro milling machine waaay too big and worn for me to use. Yes, us country boyz love a bit of barter over a few pints Your mission, should you accept it, is to work out what it is. Fantastic non-prizes may be available. Your starter for 10 is : It's a 1951
