**Update 15/03 - due to family reasons, the original buyer has had to withdraw from the purchase, so this is available again, with a price drop**
**Update 19/03 - NOW SOLD**
Sadly, due to a change in circumstances, I'm offering up this lovely Mercedes S320 (W220). I haven't had it long (January), but a longer commute to work is almost certainly going to happen, and it's just the right car for me, but at the wrong time. Having regretted selling my CL500 a couple of years ago, this was bought to rectify that mistake, and I have to say, it certainly rectified the error, and then some. I'm gutted I need to move it on, but such is life.

I bought the car with a huge crack in the windscreen, so that was the first thing to be sorted...
I then stuck it in for an MOT, and it initially failed on a few things. Tyres all round, rear suspension arms/ball joints, rear pads and wiper blades. Everything was sorted, and it now has a zero advisory MOT through until 27th January 2018. I also replaced the old number plates with a fresh pressed aluminium set. The private number plate, which is a genuine County Down registration from 1976, will go with the car. Apparently, it's worth about £500, but I always take those valuations with a pinch of salt. I have also replaced the alloy centre caps and it has a shiny new poppy-up Mercedes badge on the bonnet.
So, I know this car hides it's 'maturity' well, but the fact is, it's 17 years old, and it has some issues to note. All stuff I was going to get fixed had I been keeping it longer.
Firstly, someone decided to use me as a means of stopping at a roundabout recently. I couldn't believe how strong the car must be, as it was totally undamaged apart from a few scuffs on the rear bumper and a dead rear parking sensor. The lad accepted total responsibility, and has paid for the genuine rear inside right parking sensor (I picked it up from MB last Friday) at £82, and the rear bumper having a respray (£280), which is booked in for the week after next at a bodyshop in Middlesbrough. I'm guessing it'll take a week in the bodyshop, so if the new owner wants to keep to this plan of action, it'll be wearing it's fresh paint and ready to go on Friday 17th March.
**Edit - I picked the Merc up from the bodyshop today (18/03), and the lad has done a brilliant job - -before and after pics below**
Before..
Now...
Much better!
Other niggles:
* Suspension stays lovely and level, but doesn't go up or down by pressing the button on the dash. There is a compressor somewhere (front OS wheel arch area) which fires up the first time the car goes over 28mph, and lasts for about a minute, then goes off. Go under 28mph in that first minute, and the compressor goes off, then starts up again when going over 28mph again. I must stress though, that this has no negative bearing on how the car drives. It is super smooth, and perfectly level all the time, with no sagging if parked up. There has been no malfunction flagged up on the display at any point whilst I have owned it.
* Display is showing it is a few thousand miles overdue for a B service.
* Speedo needle is sticky. Never goes up over about 50mph, and is slow and inaccurate up to that. Not a big issue, as there is a big digital speedo inside the arc in the centre of the dash anyway.
* SRS light is on most of the time, almost certainly caused by the occupancy sensor in the passenger seat, as it goes off if someone's is planted on that particular piece of cream leather.
* Although not the worst I've seen, the wheels ideally need a refurb (pics below before new centre caps)..
* I haven't tried the air-con, but I was told it "needs a regas"
* Interior really needs a proper valet. The owner before last obviously had young kids, and they left their spills as evidence, especially on the carpets.
* NS rear light lens is slightly broken at one edge, and slightly cracked. I was looking at replacing this with a pair of facelift rear clusters, which are £80 on ebay.
To sum up, a £55k luxury, top end car when new, in brilliant condition, quite unusually for this era of Mercedes. It does have a couple of small blemishes, as expected, but nothing compared to other similar age Mercs. Such a pleasing place to sit, almost library quiet due to the double glazing. One of the silly little things that has pleased me most about owning this car is that because it's so quiet inside, you can have the audio volume at such a low level that even after a long journey, my head isn't banging. It's little things like this that set this car apart, and will mean I'll be gutted when it drives away with it's lucky new owner. A ton of car for not a lot of money.
Location: Teesside (TS12), although I am happy to help out in any way I can (meeting halfway, or picking up from airport/train station etc)
Price:£2100£1950 - sensible offers always considered from fellow Retro Riders of course.

Thanks for looking, and for getting to the bottom of a rather long-winded advert.
