Up for sale here is my late 1996 Peugeot 205 Automatic. These classic Peugeot's are getting thin on the ground in today's world, what was once a throw away car, is now something that is gaining more recognition and value as the years start to roll on.
Now, why would you buy my car? Why would you pay the money I'm asking for my car? Let me tell you....
I bought this car earlier in the year whilst my 205 GTi was off the road and found it to be a fantastic little car, it's practical, reliable and quite fast for what it is. I read that these have the 1.6 GTi cylinder head with a carb slapped on top - but don't quote me there. I was attracted to the colour of this car first of all, it's called Genesis Blue and I think this was only used on the 205 in late 95/96 cars so it's very unusual and is a stunning colour in the light of day, you really have to see it to go 'actually that IS nice!'
Another thing that attracted me to this car was perhaps it's one of the last, if not THE last Automatic 205 to be registered in the UK, it's an August 14th 1996 car - I doubt there's any later than this so there's another plus.
The mileage is 63,480 approx which would tie up with how clean the car is - you can check the MOT history online, as I did and it ties up, so a low miler meaning the interior is very clean with only the back seat being perhaps a little mucky and torn underside where some water has tracked at some point in the past.
There isn't any rattles from the dash that I can hear, nothing is broken either apart from the glovebox knob which means it can't be opened but can be repaired if you're that bothered. The original Clarion radio has been replaced with a modern Sony Bluetooth / AUX all singing and dancing version... Pretty cool if you listen to music on your phone.
I haven't found any major rot on this example - I know where to look as I own, and have owned countless 205's - the boot floor is rust free almost, the inner wings also need little-to-no attention for a good few years yet, the sills are still perfect and there's no body stress cracks, under the rear seats is the only place where I thought 'hmmmm' when I bought her but rubbing down and Waxoyl would solve the two scabs either side (these aren't anywhere near perforation though) I left it because I don't want to hide anything with the car.
I've modified the car slightly with colour-coded GTI bumpers and also 106 Raptor alloys, it looks pretty sporty versus when I bought her. I've also just put 12 months MOT on her, she's had a new exhaust and the brakes overhauled so if you like the car and want to buy her, she's ready to go fully legally and will take you anywhere you want to go.
1 key opens and locks everything, no electric windows or central locking to faff about with, heater works, rear de-mist doesn't, reverse light still comes on (rare I find on a 205!) spare steel wheel under the car is the factory one! Jack and brace still present. V5 in my name, Britax sunroof model (doesn't seem to leak) lovely auto bulge bonnet - just an overall wonderful car and a great solid example Peugeot 205.
