Offered for sale is my stunning condition, low mileage 1986 Porsche 944 2.5 with full service history. 1986 is a significant year for the 944 as it introduced the “oval dash” and alloy rear suspension arms, but retaining the earlier more sporting geometry (a one year only specification). It’s also fitted with rare 15x7 et 23.3 teledial wheels making this a desirable example. Originally supplied by Monarch Porsche in Warwick it retains it’s original dealer tread plats and rear window sticker.
As you can see from the images the car is very original and presents incredibly well inside and out. It has a thick book-stamped service history by Porsche main dealers and specialists from its first “running in service” at 1109 miles to its most recent at 118133 miles. It also comes with a folder of receipts covering all the significant works the car has had over its life. The car has had 6 former keepers including members of the GB Porsche club; the magazine of which it has appeared in a couple of times. It has also been featured over a number of recent months it GT Porsche magazine documenting the work completed on it.
Having been taken off the road in autumn 2016 the car has been subjected to a thorough top-to-bottom refresh and detailed servicing to ensure it is in top mechanical condition. This has included:
- Cam belt and balancer shaft belt change at 118133 miles
- Front end drive belts (both) replaced at 18813 miles
- A full and comprehensive service completed at 122,400 miles including:
o Oil

- Gaz coilover adjustable height/ damping suspension fitted.
- Rear bolt-on wheel spacers to take the rear to Turbo width.
- Hunter wheel alignment with report.
- Cam box gasket replaced @ Pro-9 Porsche specialist £270 03/05
The body has also been treated to a full underside clean with wheel arch liners removed and coated with Dinatrol 4941. This included inside the doors with the door cars removed. At the same time the window mechanisms were lubricated. The paint has been detailed and corrected then sealed with glaze and Meguires tech wax. There are, as to be expected, a couple of marks and some stone chips on the car but nothing significant that detracts from the overall fantastic condition of the car. The interior is as-new bar a small amount of bolster wear on the driver’s seat. Everything in the interior works as expected though the LCD display on the clock is cloudy and the sunroof can be sticky. The Sunroof itself comes with its original storage bag. The car also comes with its original tool kit, unused spare wheel and jack.
The drive is smooth and faultless with plenty of power from the 2.5 engine. The engine is quiet and runs beautifully using no oil or water and maintain a steady 1/3 on the temp gauge as well as a full 5 bar of oil pressure when hot.
The car has been modified and upgraded with Gaz height and damping adjustable coilovers custom specified to ensure they are compliant on the road so as not to compromise ride, but slightly stiffer to improve the sporting character of the car. Front discs and pads have been upgraded with EBC hardware to ensure great performance. The only body modification is the removal of the rear wiper, but this sold with the car and can be reinstated in minutes if desired.
MOT is due October 17th 2017 and the MOT history is clean of any corrosion or issues that have not been addressed.
Current mileage is 124900 but will increase as the car is in occasional use.
Also with the car is the original owner’s literature pack and wallet.
It is fitted with a Thatcham certified CAT 1 alarm and comes with two keys and alarm fobs.
Note GAZ rear shocks not fitted in underside pic.
In summary an outstanding and cherished example of a desirable 1986 944 which is turn-key and wanting for nothing, with sympathetic high quality (easily reversible) modifications to improve its sporting character. It’s ready for a summer of driving and enjoying.
