Essex meet (Southend Seafront) - 2nd of August.

So it's been a while since i've organised/attempted to organise a little meet, we've had some decent turn outs in the past.

Figured we're due a cheeky little seafront meet with potential BLAP/DRIVE to where ever else.

How's the evening of the 2nd of August, flexible with the date changing to any evening really (or potentially making it a regular thing). If everyones fine staying put thats cool or if you fancy a drive out and know some decent spots to go to then thats cool aswell.

Meeting outside Rossi's (that side of the seafront at least) at 7.30pm.

I'll be down in the orange mini hopefully and would be good to see some locals.

I'm local (ish) but my car doesn't live here. I might cycle along or come down in something modern just to have a look about.

It is a bit of a trek for me, so it all depends how late I'm working that day, and how early I start the next!

When I was based in Surrey I used to have a girlfriend in Essex and we used to drive to Southend and cruise the sea front in my sri 130. Was always a great turn out, but this was back in 1990/3.

It's a little different now, they do have an organised 'cruise' in october. If this meet goes well it could be worth organising to meet somewhere localish and convoy down for that.

They used to do passion ford on the first weds of every month that had a nice mix of cars and not just the chavy boy racers

It was great back then, lots of hot rods and fords, remember trying to race a mk2 escort down the A127 to find out it was a cossy.there was also a couple of lads from Romford with mk4/5 cortinas lowered with pug 205 alloys and I always thought they looked mint. Bit too far for me now I'm back home in Manchester.

Its changed a lot (layout wise) now. Theres no round abouts on either end lol

AHH, Southend... Must have been early 90's that I frequented that too. The days before speed humps were invented. Legend has it that on the A127 at laindon on that stupid roundabout that you can't go around, they fitted speed humps in that there BP station because people were cutting the turn coming off the roundabout bit an going through the station forecourt... At 80's. Actually saw a white sapphire cozzy do it once and seriously thought we was all gonna die covered in flames. Don't think I ever done it myself well, not that I can remember...

And right by that ice cream place is the layby where I swapped my Orion's head at stupid o'clock in the morning... Memories...

Late 80s for me in various mk1 cortinas and mk1 escorts I owned back then, remember coming home In the early hours one Sunday morning with a few mates who'd had a skinful,,,I didn't drink back then I loved driving too much
Well my cars were always mint even then and one of said mates decided he needed to throw up
I actually stopped inside Dartford tunnel to get him out!!
Not a good thing to do obviously!

I love hearing the old stories from back when the 2 round abouts were down there. Unfortunately its a little before my time

I should hopefully be down in my mini, just need to sort a wee couple of bits out

I went up and down the front a few times sitting in my pals mg metro engine bay with the bonnet up controlling the throttle after the cable snapped, twas warm in there but that's trust. If he planted the brake I'd have got a mouth full of road. There are lots of stories and most shouldn't be told...
Increased presence of rozzers saw the fun away but they saved many lives.
