**Edit** CAR SOLD
Having taken over ownership of Julie's late father's old car (Merc B180), it is with huge regret that I am putting my lovely early Saab 9-5 up for sale.
1997 Saab 9-5
2.0 litre turbo
Manual
67k miles
10 months MOT (02/05/18)
Taxed to get you home.
This is a super-smart example of one of the earliest Saab 9-5's around (they were launched in '97).
I've had the car since March, and I've done 4000 miles in it. What a smashing car. There's not much that could have persuaded me to part with this car, as it was bought with Julie's dad firmly front and centre in our minds. He had a few of these and loved them. As I said above though, we've taken over ownership of the last car he had before he passed away, and I just don't need this anymore to do the daily duties. We have seven cars now, so something has to give (I already have the Maxima up for sale after buying the E55 AMG).
Lots of pics and info in my build thread from this forum here...

I'll start with the bad bits, to get them out of the way....
* The front passenger window doesn't drop well, which has been diagnosed as one of those little green clips behind the door card. I have two of these in the glovebox waiting to be fitted.
* The only bodywork issue on the whole car is some slight bubbling on the drivers side C pillar behind the back door. It's small, and under the paint, so it's not noticed unless you know it's there.
* The limp home mode, where the idle tick over stays up at 1200rpm, has kicked in three or four times. This could mean the throttle body might need a clean. It's an easy 30 second reset with a screwdriver (fuse 17 out, push the cog back, fuse 17 back in). I've been driving the car to work and back most days recently, and it's performed faultlessly for a few weeks now, so it hasn't really bothered me.
* The central locking needs looking at. The drivers door works fine, but the front passenger door lock button won't descend or lock. The rear drivers door works by hand, and the rear passenger door works from the central locking, but the button stays down all the time! Bit of a mixed bag, but probably just a case of actuators etc.
* The blowers to the rear sometimes just blow hot air no matter what setting the system up front is on. Somwetimes they are fine, sometimes they blow hot.
Don't let the above put you off. It's a super car, and has to be one of the cleanest early 9-5's around. Clean, shiny, low miles.
Spec:
Unmarked velour interior. Famously comfortable seats. No leather means no cold mornings or scalded legs on sunny days!
Electric Windows x4
Electric mirrors
Original audio (single CD, cassette, FM/AM radio)
Power steering
Central locking
Towbar (untested)
Fully working SID display with computer (mpg, distance left in tank, outside temp etc)
The colour is something to behold. It's a non-metallic black. Without the metallic flakes, it has to be the 'blackest' black I have seen, and looks amazing.
As well as working like a Trojan to get a fantastic shine to the bodywork, I've sorted a few things since I got it. I changed the orange side repeaters and bulbs (front and back) to clear, replaced the faded bonnet and boot badges and alloy wheel centre caps, replaced two tyres, front wiper blades, fitted smarter new number plates and replaced the SID to one which has no missing pixels. I also dried out the inside of the OS front repeater lens. There are two remote keys and one to use in the door. The two remote keys both have evidence of super glue and diy repairs. I think one of them works from memory, but I haven't really used them, and I've just been happy with the normal old style key.
The wheels are the original three spokers. These are apparently quite rare, as they were a design used on early 9-5's only.
These are surprisingly quick. Decent on fuel too. 70mph is ticking over at around 2200rpm, and I have seen 550 miles from a tank pooling to work and back (50 miles a day).
It's a car that get a lot of attention. A number of people have actually commented how good it looks for a "ten year old car". They've seen the registration (R107...) and thought it was an '07 plate. I have to correct them to say it's an R plate from 1997, and actually 20 years old, not ten! Granted, a few small things to sort, nothing difficult, but where's the fun in buying a car where there's nothing to look at?!
Car is located in Saltburn-By-The-Sea (TS12), but I'd happily help in any way to get the car and new owner together (meet half way, pick up from train station etc).
I'm looking for £995.

Thanks for looking,
Chris
