I wanted to do this thread much earlier but work and home project have got in the way – we’ve also had a few drop outs and replacements (probably due to the earlier booking process)

However seeing as at this very moment we have a full house of 120 cars and I have an evening free (what’s left of it) I'm kicking it off now - Sorry it's taken me so long GavinJ

This will also provide the basis of information for Paul Venners (who is "on the mic" on the day)

It's also a handy thread for spectators to show a little insider knowledge to their mates on the day when the cars run up the hill

So lets kick it off with a few forum members first

Mods – looks like a cosworth, sounds like a cosworth and goes like a cosworth... But with a Volvo engine it shouldn't go bang like a cosworth. Chipped B230 with IPD go-faster bits, M90 gearbox w/ Sachs racing clutch. 220hp at the moment, looking to get 350hp before August. AVO coilovers, seamwelded chassis, genuine cossie bodykit, 4x4 front and rear subframes and a classic cossie scorpion exhaust

James Cribb - 1971 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow





Last year we could do funerals (see “what’s going up the Hill 2016” thread) – this year it’s weddings – just part of the diversity (not them) that this show offers – James has offered to chauffeur couples who want to be married at the top of the oldest motorsports venue in the UK to the top of the hill – Downside is that only one passenger at a time – so if anyone actually doesn’t want to tie the knot I recommend going second and making your escape

Mods - Citroen 2cv6 ‘Bamboo’ – powered by a BMW R1100 motorcycle engine, An MSA Sports Libre spec. hillclimb & sprint car. Engine size: 1100cc (originally 602cc), Power: 110bhp (originally 28bhp), Weight: 600kgs, Limiter set: 9200rpm, Top Speed: unknown (currently excessive front end lift at 115mph renders steering ineffective)

Mods - Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 1 homoglatori speciale (only 20 built for "Miki Biasion" the wrc works Lancia driver at the time) cars were built on the Lancia production line and prior to suspension & engine fitment sent to "Abarth" (the Lancia,Fiat,Ferrari tuning co) for fitment of the specialised bits, on this car included intercooler water injection.The car has been further rebuilt & modified by myself for sprints & hillclimbs with the usual race interior mods plus coilover fully adjustable suspension and engine upgrades to 430bhp (last year I was running only 220bhp) acceleration and cornering speed and its distinctive noise is amazing.

I’ve recently done a engine conversion to a 1.8 vvc rover k series engine, multicoloured suspension, engine, etc, all in my parents garage haha, made new front shock mounts and modified the hilos to get it lower, Autoplas rear window louvre, bucket seat, 10”x7” golf cart wheels!

Hello Ian.

I think i cured the oil leak on the TR8. Was the sump gasket. I thought the good people at Shelsley would prefer me not to be losing oil on the hill. Was a mere drip. Honest!
Have gone to superunleaded and more ignition advance.
And the center box with no fiberglass in it!

Having just drooled over everything in this thread, I am more gutted than ever that I didn't make it last Sunday. Unfortunately, after spanking my old E30 around Brands Hatch all day Saturday, my right front wheel decided it wanted to be free and live a life of its own. Unfortunately, in its bid for freedom, it took out the front of a new 4 series and left me ''tipping on 3'' but without the benefit of hydraulics.

Anyway, hope you all had a great time and am looking forward to catching up in 2018!
