The time has come that I find myself putting the W202 up for sale!
The car is mostly solid but needs the usual W202 bodywork attention that I haven't gotten around to yet.
Loads has been spent on this car since I got it in December last year I'm scared to actually add it all up if I'm honest!
The good points are:
M.O.T until 29th May 2018 with a clean sheet pass
Extremely clean M111.945 engine with no visible oil leaks.
4 really good tyres on 16 inch W210 Algenib alloy wheels.
Recent gearbox service including oil, filter and pilot bush.... no leaks here either.
Very clean interior even though it has the wrong pattern seats from an elegance (same colour as originals though)
Super low mileage for 20 years old .... 71,417
New air conditioning compressor fitted this year at a cost of £240 without labour!
New aux drive belt at the same time as compressor.
New Radiator also this year.
New viscous fan coupler.
Now the bad points (every car has them):
The AC is not operational as it needs the hoses repairing. It's the only fault on the system but there is the new AC compressor and receiver dryer already installed!
It could do with a pair of front wings as they are a bit crispy.
Some small rust patches on the doors (mainly in the corners) but not really noticable.
Small amount of rust in the rear arches where the door shut is.
A couple of small dents here and there but nothing that Isn't expected at this age.
I curbed a front wheel this morning which wasn't a clever idea as they have very recently been reconditioned.
I'm not really very flexible on the price due to the cash that I have spent up to now. This car has covered 12,000 miles under my ownership in the last 8 months.... not once has it broken down or caused me any kind of grief as regards to mechanical reliability! Most of the cash that I have spent has been age related maintainence!
I would get in this car and drive the length of the country without a care in the world because I know it would get me there safely without drama. Just last week we covered 345 miles on a trip to Swindon without any fault at all!
It's a reluctant sale but it's getting a little too old for me to run daily at my current mileage. I never intended to drive high miles in it but that's life I guess.
I would consider a swap against another Mercedes but it would have to be right to consider it.
Next post is pictures and contact details ....
