Sadly due to illness the time has come the part with my pride and joy.
It's a 1993 Mercedes 3.0 sl R129, the last of the models that Merc built with rust free bodies and over engineered mechanical's.
Iv'e had this for 8 yrs and when i bought it i ran it for a year till the mot was up and then retired it to the garage when i then stripped
for painting. The previous owner had the dash changed at a cost of £1200 because he didn't like it but I've changed it back the original. The replacement dash is available.
The right colour is signal red but was repainted ( with a roller or sponge ) some time in it's life a horrible shade of orange. I stripped it down
but i could only find two rust scabs. Then a thing called work and routine got in the way and it lay in the garage for nigh on 7 years.
I painted it and while polishing it with a machine polisher i got over enthusiastic and burnt the paint !
I decided the only remedy was to flatten down again in preparation for more painting. I't was prepared and then life gave me a scare
while on holiday and i was diagnosed with a stroke. Although i'm getting better i have decided i'm not strong enough to take this on
again.
Although everything is their for it including the hard top, and it still runs it's not mot and it's been sorn'd. The soft top doesn't work i think due to a limit/pressure
switch being stuck but what do you expect with sitting in the garage for 7 yrs. All it needs is some paint and i'll even throw that in, i've
got 10 ltrs of signal red.
These cars are going to go up in value. A good project for someone for the winter. I'm not going to give it away but offers are invited round about £1500.
Any questions you can contact me on 07599 804066 and i'm based in Aberdeen.
A bit more info on the car, it has got full service history and the dash change has been recorded in the service history. There is a pic of the log book
and when it was sorn'd and the last mot.
