Vehicle - Peugeot 106 GTI
Engine - 1.6 16v
Transmission - 5 speed manual
Mileage - 123,500
MOT - May 2018
Location - Chesterfield
Price - £870...no offers I'm afraid
Firstly, I'll get this out of the way. Apologies to anyone who likes to barter, I'm afraid the price is non negotiable to make things simple. 870 whole pounds will buy it.
So, it' s a cheap 106 GTI, which are now getting into the realms of rarity, and in turn desirable to investors. It's on the road and carries a valid MOT until May 2018. Having said this, I'd still class it as a project, but a running, on the road one at that. It has an MOT until 12/05/18, and has covered just a few hundred miles since. There was one advisory of an oil leak, which is from the rocker cover, so just needs to be resealed. I have a service book with 11 stamps in, the last one being in September 2012 at 118,136 miles.
Mechanically, this is very good. It starts instantly, idles very well and pulls like a train through the gears. The gearbox is good, unlike most old Peugeots I've driven, and the clutch is also good....as are the brakes. It's a non PAS model, so steering is a little stiff when maneuvering, but that's to be expected. It's got a full Scorpion stainless steel exhaust, and some sort of fancy carbon fibre look air box.....I'm not up on all of this, so apologies about the vagueness there!
The interior is close to being immaculate. No wear to the seats, including the bolster. The carpet is good, as is the dashboard. All electrics seem to work.
The body is solid, no rust. I'd not go so far as saying it's a ten footer....more like a 6 footer maybe! It's suffered from lacquer peel to the roof, and a couple of patches on the bonnet and A pillars. The tailgate is off a red car, and has started to peel around the rear screen, as per pictures. The N/S front wing has been painted at some point, and blended into the door which is a slightly different shade.
Other than the above, the other negatives are;
1 - Needs an Alternator
2 - Needs the rocker cover resealing
3 - Wheel wobble at 60mph. Guessing it's the wheels that need balancing, but worst case is a top mount.
4 - N/S door moulding missing
5 - 16 owners!!!!
I'll let the numerous pictures do the talking. I bought this off facebook and had it delivered yesterday. I was planning on replacing the alternator and resealing the rocker cover (someone has lazily attempted this, and made a right pigs ear of it....see the picture!) and moving it on as a cheap GTI. However, with the lacquer peel etc, I'd want to paint it too. If I don't get the money I've advertised it for, I'll paint it over Christmas, do all the jobs and put a standard exhaust back on and then put it up for sale for £2500. I could do without it though, as I've got a few too many projects on the go right now, and don't really need another!
It's make a cracking track car, or a good running project for someone to tidy up along the way. Ideally, it'll need transporting away due to the alternator.
Come take a look, have a drive and kick some tyres....which are all good, actually. Any questions, fire away.
