Brilliant. Thanks for posting those. How does all that stuff make it to Iceland, and 2. How does '60s and '70s tin survive in a field in that climate? I'll have a guess. I reckon it could be due to a lack of trees.I live in New Zealand and the air is oxygen rich,my car has lichen growing on it within 2 weeks if I don't clean it. If it's windy/dry in Iceland that could be why. Or I could be ful'o'wibblepoo! Awesome find though

During WW2 the Americans built the runway which is about 30 miles from ReykjavÃk, Iceland has no real military presence but they have had the American troops and NATO troops based on the island from the mid 40's up until 06 i believe which would explain the array of different cars you can find on the island. Lack of rust can also be attributed to the lack of salt used on the roads, the majority of main roads are tarmac, the rest are gravel or dirt roads. Iceland is a great place to visit but bear in mind it can either be light 24 hrs a day or very overcast, beer is ridiculously expensive and the food can be a bit weird to say the least.

I made an account here a couple of months ago to buy a car. I came across this thread shortly afterwards and i am really interested in it. I spotted a few over the past few days, i'll upload more as i get pictures of them. I think this one may be still be in use, but a very interesting car. I also know of a Lotus Elite, and a very old Land Rover nearby which are abandoned, i will try and get pics of them soon

A mate of a mate took it & it was forwarded to me back in July If anyone on here or the ( mkiv site, I know your looking) ? where it's also been picked up on would like to start the bidding in beer tokens I can be persuaded to divulge the city it's in, Then if we reach multi pack bids I will tell which area of the city. ? Or I could have it myself & sell on for spirits..

To match my maturity???. ratffpms I take it you didn't see the funny side of my post..I apologise & will go to my room.. And the reason I've not posted any further information.. I'm waiting for a reply from a mate who is on his hols in tenerife, It was his mate that took the picture I'm waiting on an answer if it was just a one off when passing the car or if he passes it regularly, If it's the latter I've asked for the exact address, house number & contact name & number of the owner, details of the car & if it is available for sale, because surprise surprise being immature I may want to( bags it) all to myself if it's not for me then I would share what I have found out. Because that's what grown ups do..

It's a Canberra and a raspberry ripple one at that. The fire engines are old airport ones that we just parked up and stripped as newer equipment came on stream.
It's very post-apocalyptic round there as dusk falls.

Dungbug, it appears to be completely solid underneath which given that its only done about 200 miles in the last 15 years isnt too surprising. I actually sold the car 15 years ago which is why I was offered it back. I just tried a check on that reg 'GSD899E' and it keeps coming up I even tries replacing the 'D' with an 'O' with the same result! Slightly confused why you would feel the need to do a reg check, what did you want to know thats not shown on my post? As it is I just ran a check myself and it worked fine. Dave

Dave I was curious on the year of registration of the old girl, so I ran the reg through the government's road tax checker so I posted the details as it didn't take to the reg.
