Debated dayvans a while ago, but bongo around £2500 look..... Tired. I did debate a Sharan, in vr6 spec, leather etc, then slammed You can get a decent Bongo for that kind of money, you just have to be patient. You are right though, many are going for much more money. Guy at work has a tatty one, needs test and £300 of work. It's ropey, used as a van/skip. Been offered £1700 as is 😮

I looked at all sorts when I wanted something with 7 seats. Trouble is it needed to be almost free and I ended up with a Zafira. This has actually turned out to be a pretty good car. It took ages to clean the interior up and it needed some mechanical work done but since then hasn't coast much to keep on the road apart from the high coat of taxing it. Our one is only a 1.8 but I would imagine the turbo ones might be quite, er, OK to drive. There probably aren't that many around now either. As s disposable hack, yes. Classic, to enjoy? No.

That's cool as hell, basically a well made 420 tourers 😍 Only 40 miles from me too My Dad was chief packaging engineer on HHR development, spent 9 months in Japan working with honda on it so I have a massive soft spot for all 400/45/Civics. It still irks my Dad that they never built the Rover Tourer version as he spent a huge amount of time developing it that was ultimately wasted. There was far more Rover input in to HHR than people realise too, the Longbridge team deserved more credit as the original Honda Domani was a dog of a car. It was only a shame they weren't allowed more freedom to differentiate the River version from the Civic.

Awesome. You seen the ZS tourer a guy built from an aero deck? Yeah, there is a 45 version rolling around too. Lot of work went into them. That red aero deck you found, would look great with the black half leather Recaro interior, Rover steering wheel, and some tweets. JDM meets old English.

Wheels redone anthracite grey... Hekos...JDM plates...sunstrip....ss exhaust... Wonder if a Rover bonnet goes on?

I would think it would fit and the front wings are the same but the headlamps are very very different so a Rover bonnet with Honda lamps might look odd.

That's lovely. But I'm about £10k shy, and I suspect her isofix fears aren't going to be allayed. Upcoming dog adoption may require things to be expedited.

A mate has a left field suggestion.... 306 estate, 90bhp hdi.
Apparently the phase 3 ones had isofix.
And you can retrofit to others.
So, decent handling... Reliable... And cheap.
Modified look ok too

Modified look ok too We had a 3 door 306 with the XUD 1.9 Turbo D, phenomenal little car. The estates look pretty smart too. Doubt you will get one on classic insurance though. Likewise the later 406 diesel estates make great family wagons if classic-ness is less of a priority. Dad went through a few 406s after Rover went bump as cheap workhorses and they were all great cars.

But done right, normal policy can be as cheap.

Parents have a shogun sport I'm insured on. Taking the hit on MPG for tow duties only, would be balanced out by having something year round that's dirt cheap to run
