Am I the only one who thinks why would you put so much time, money, and effort to produce something so hideous that you'd end up wearing a paper bag over your head every time you drove it so that nobody recognises you? Or am I missing something thats glaringly obvious that makes it cool?

I thought of writing that there is only one vehicle here that doesn't do it for me...I think the builder of this thing is missing something

I get what you are saying..... but I sort of like it (in a I like it, but wouldn’t want it way :/ ) I wouldn’t want to drive it, it’s too in your face for me (though I think people would be staring at the vehicle so no bag necessary ) and I’d worry about hitting things (potholes, kerbs, anything) and being left with a pile of filler.... but I can appreciate the work that’s gone into it, and these things survive, so they must be well built I think it reminds me of the ‘Max Power’ hot hatches, and that was a look that didn’t gel with me particularly..... but maybe that was because the Max Power modifiers didn’t commit to the look, this definitely smacks of commitment (Should probably be in cars that shouldn’t work but do)

Hopefully not to pigeon holling but its because they are Chinese when I visited hong kong I was lucky enough to be in a bar with karaoke on one night and some of the singers were bloody terrible BUT everyone joined in and when they finished everyone clapped and cheered and was supportive for the person singing there was no I'm standing here alone singing terrible it was more i'm joining in and doing my best and people appreciated that, As i'm old now I too couldn't drive that as is but remove the bumpers and sticky up bits leave the pick up the wheel arches and wheels I would drive it and I know looking back to my late teens early 20s I drove some things that made older people scratch there heads and at the time that was 80% the point as I was proving I don't care what you think i'm laughing and having a good time, The Polo at the top is obviously outstanding in every way but which car has got the most comments ....I think some how there is a lot to learn from the Chinese but we and I do mean me personally who even though the karaoke was in English still couldn't get up and have a go thousands of miles from were any body knew me ...far to English for that just cant work them out.

pistonpopper Some people like extreme things. To give a music analogy, some people like Ed Sheeran, some like The Dillinger Escape Plan. Now I couldn't play you Dillinger Escape Plan - Sugar Coated Sour and expect you to like it straight off the bat if your tastes are a bit more vanilla, and that van is definitely more at that extreme end of things. However I may be able to weave a path through DEP's back catalogue to find how far you'll go with the extreme stuff. I find these kinds of cars are like that there is always an entry point, and you just see how far your tastes go... maybe you're much more vanilla than those with more extreme tastes, that ain't no bad thing, but it certainly isn't bad that someone likes and builds extreme stuff. With that said. More Mustard

Or am I missing something thats glaringly obvious that makes it cool? The best way to look at it is to treat it as a sculpture rather than a vehicle. I believe the owners don't build vehicles like this to make their car better (performance / looks wise like the majority of car people) but to make it look like something out of a cartoon / film. i.e. Gundam or Transformers. It's an amazing site and feeling driving vehicles like this because you do get the feeling that it will transform into a robot at any time. Do it in convoy and it just makes it even more bonkers feel-good.

But deep down...

Think this was from an older MB thread, just found it looking for a brown thread (miss my old brown Mini Pooper! Setting off car alarms in multistorey car parks with a single box exhaust and LCB!)
