You should all be used to this by now - I know I do it every year - I like making things better - no point just accepting you've got it to an OK state and thinking that's good enough On behalf of the paddock team which was gewy (Senior Controller) and myself (Gatekeeper and f*ckerupper for the Senior Controller - he had to be tested fully ) we only want to focus on the track activity Venue, toilets, camping, show in fact anything not track related - save that for another thread or better still start one yourself – rules are always the same - Just the Track pleaseFundamentally the process is always the same – find out what could be improved – make plans to improve – we can resolve pretty much most things apart from the weather which was wonderful for this first event Looking for feedback from any participants, spectators or any other perspective We’re not fishing for compliments - nice if you make them but if we did something well we can't do much to do it better next time.... - I’m just after what we did wrong or what didn't work - What anyone thinks could be done to improve it I also use this thread as a reference before we start organizing the activities next year because frankly I am rubbish at writing stuff down in any detail it swims around my head after the show and then if I don’t write it down I forget it I have emailed all the people who successfully applied for track or were given spaces as a result of drop outs to get their feedback - I may publish parts of their responses where relevant Might need to edit this because I knocked it out without drafting

1 and 2: The process of applying and paying was a bit stretched, but I suspect due to the team finding it's feet. Forgiven. 3: Good and enough, except I know Goodwood pretty well. Perhaps others might've appreciated a better map of the entry/tunnel/paddock approach. 4. I'm used to a clearer guide regarding certain features/idiosyncrasies of the track, but, as it turned out, this wasn't necessary. Not really quick enough for any to have been risky. 5. Exemplary. Bravo! 6. The venue is wonderful, and staffed by professional experts. Always inspires confidence and joy. The format wasn't much like a sprint, for me. My experience has always allowed at least one flying lap (I know timing's not allowed/insured, but there is always somebody there with a timer!) Woteva, it was a splendid event, and I hope to be there next year(?) PS. I DID pay for day tickets, but wasn't asked to show them. My paddock pass got me straight in, anyway :-)

The event for me was superb, having not being to Goodwood before i felt you organised the event very well indeed.
The track time system worked very well in my opinion, everyone in the group i was in worked together to get the best order.
The only negative, which was very small, the delay in getting the morning cars back in to the paddock area.
Other than that, i couldn't fault the weekend. Great cars, great people and the venue fitted the event perfectly.

1. It was all pretty straight forward, nothing complicated.
2. Website was clear and easy to use for payment, can't remember if there were any snags. At one point I couldnt remember if I paid for the track, I remember registering for it. But a quick check on emails and forum sorted it out.
3. Yeah the info was pretty clear. I don't check the forum often enough but when I received the tickets by post, it all made sense. A proper map could of been a nice extra, one to pick up at entrance for those that have never been before.
4. Briefing was great went smoothly the officials were really there to help and make it enjoyable as much as possible. really liked the track brief after the safety brief. It was really helpful.
5. I think it was fine, there was just a little misunderstanding on the afternoon session. with what lanes you got told coming back from the sighting lap and what lanes the Marshall put us in. But it was fixed quickly and smoothly and it all ran well.
6. My first time on track or anything similar, so I though it was amazing, great mix of cars, great people. Just a very nice show with a very nice atmosphere.
Thanks very much for being flexible with swapping my capri to a 205 and its a shame I had to cut it short but nevermind, curse word happens. Still managed 2 laps and had great fun. Hope to see you at the gathering with the capri fixed

I didn't have anything I felt was 'fast' enough for the track so I was only spectating. Just a quick bit of feedback, I noticed the tannoy was only used to direct drivers. Would it be possible next time to have some narrative on the cars? I think the voice over at the gathering gives more atmosphere. Just a thought! Otherwise a super weekend, I can't wait for next year's...

PS. I DID pay for day tickets, but wasn't asked to show them. My paddock pass got me straight in, anyway :-) It seems most (all) of you did judging from the email responses - It was worrying me a bit because Paddock passes were for both track participants and Guest cars - I was a bit worried I'd really fecked up in not checking tickets

I thought it went really well and loved the eclectic mix of cars. Where else would you see an E30 M3 chase down a bright orange Studebaker? Commentator for next year is a great idea.

Thought everything worked well, Goodwood was great and everyone played nice in the groups I was in. It's hard to criticise something I couldn't organise myself, so well done Retro Rides - had a fantastic weekend!
We bought weekend camping tickets as well as track time.

1. Application process (was it easy or difficult) I’d add some questions like how many trackdays have you done, and have you driven goodwood before, just so you can match experience levels easier.
2. Selection and payment process I was camping so bought a weekend ticket and track time.
3. Information you hopefully received before the event Too late and a lot depended on being on the forum, wich was okay for me, but I brought some pals with me who were pretty blind from it all.
4. Briefing process at the event Fine. - all I’d say and I may have missed something but the first I knew about the chicane was on the sighting lap.
5. The way we ran the paddock Morning session were held for over an hour after the final run wich was a bit annoying, and come the afternoon there was actually a lot of space in the paddocks. There was also no real timetable in the morning session, wich was fine as we all hung around our cars and chatted, but from a competitor perspective I had no idea what time I was going to be going out.
6. The venue and format of the event (Replicating a sprint event). The format was ace (speaking as someone who has done proper sprints at goodwood and trackdays) the addition of the chicane was awesome and really added a new dimension to the circuit.
The track time is a massive part for me, without it I’d not attend so I was very worried when I heard no overtaking allowed, I assume this was down to insurance? I was put behind the ls swapped e30 and had caught him after 1/3rd of a lap, we then agreed I would go first wich was fine, but next year could you not allow overtaking? It has the potential to frustrate the quicker car and pressurise the slower.

Hello RR! I really must get on this forum more often after the great weekend i had! I was one of the Pulsar GTIR drivers. Did track time in the morning 1. Application process (was it easy or difficult) Fairly easy but I felt the website and process a little disjointed. There was always a little feeling of 'am i doing this right' or 'i'm sure there's something else i should be doing here...' Fully understand it's a new website/event/venue etc, so can only get better. 2. Selection and payment process Bought both sets of tickets. Don't think anyone would of thought otherwise. Ticket checking did occur for me, but I can see what you mean. 3. Information you hopefully received before the event Some of the diagrams and informality was a bit confusing, there were a few moments when I thought this does not make complete sense but with prior knowledge of the Goodwood venue it will be ok on the day. And sure enough it was great on the day! 4. Briefing process at the event Briefing was good enough coupled with the sighting laps. Possibly an explanation of the best 'racing lines' could of been made and give a feel for the kind of typical speeds to expect and braking zones to consider in certain areas. I personally have been around Goodwood a few times with an instructor at other events and the cone chicane was a great idea. Brought down the top speed of the laps, making it ultimately safer and more fun for the smaller cars. 5. The way we ran the paddock The group I was in was perfectly happy to talk and make judgement about the running order of the cars. So a good feeling in general. 6. The venue and format of the event (Replicating a sprint event). Only negative was Saturday night's lack of a bar/entertainment where we could pay for drinks. The 1 free beer was nice but short lived. Made an emergency dash to Sainsburys. The 'Tat Auction' was amazing and funny! The Shell building could have been used as a proper bar with live music, racing videos and Tat Auction. This would have been great and worth considering for future events. Camping and site facilities were suitable. Behavior around the campsite seemed fine, security were fair etc... Please do it again at Goodwood Cheers, Adam
