Managed a couple more things over the weekend. Made a start on the diagonal. The back stays are going to prove more of a challenge... well, the one that will pass right through the petrol filler will. Noticed that the rear wheel cylinder installation may need a closer look at ![](https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/darkspeed/5f0774b30719.jpg) Took a round trip to pick up a set of weather gear for the Red Gemini that popped up on marketplace That came off this car. ![](https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/darkspeed/4f7bc6880936.jpg) The new owner has really got stuck into it and its unrecognisable as this car now.

Found a bit of time after work to grind the diagonal to a suitable shape. It will get tacked up, removed and then fully welded. At lunchtime today I doodled an idea for moving the gearstick back a couple of inches in a period racer type way. Taking another long weekend so I will try and turn it into metal tomorrow. The engine is done so I have that to pick up in the morning - Just waiting on the crank and balancing work to be completed and then its time to get on with the assembly.

Collected the block Tacked in the diagonal - really must get some larger rods for the TIG to do things like this. Coat of paint on the block and head at some stage this weekend Turned my sketch and a bit of heavy steel strip into something useful Just need to get a stainless dome head nut - when its all in Satin - knob as is - its should look pretty smart. Moved back about 80mm I am off collecting all the engine parts tomorrow. Crank has been fettled - Flywheel lightened - Whole assembly balanced.

The block has been given its first coat of blue - once fully dry it will get a scuff and a recoat. Flywheel is now back from having some more weight shaved and getting balanced with the crank cover and pulley. Flywheel is now at 6.5Kg Cover is 3Kg and the plate is 750g - The manifold is out of the shed as it needs to go with the head for some more porting with it being matched and pinned to the head. With a bit of luck I may well get into the build stage next weekend.
