I have a small trailer. The lights are playing up. And my magnetic emergency towing lights are at the same. When I fiddle with either set when plugged in, I get all lights, just never at the same time. So. Is there a better way to do things??? The socket is plastic and was pro wired.

Pre-wired or “pro” wired?
A good blast with cleaner usually fixes the standard problem of corrosion on the pins but could also be an issue with the main earth (white IIRC) from the socket.

Pro wired. I had a melted wire years back and get them done for me nowadays. I'll try the contact cleaner. Gardi (police) are hot on trailors atm.

Earth pin is the middle pin I think but might be worth seeing if you find where the earth wire has been grounded in the car and see if it’s a good connection - maybe add another temporary earth and see if that fixes it if the contact cleaner doesn’t work.

Parents trailer was playing up recently. Plug looked alright but when I tried it on my car the lights all worked. In the end I had to wire another plug in, still don’t know what went wrong with the old one.

Is this a UK type plug / socket?
Not had a single issue since changing to the Euro 13 pin type in 2009 (I’m towing a number of different trailers every week).
