NOVA import certificate

Hi everyone, more questions.

I have a french registered van, in France, which I plan on importing to the UK.
I have the original registration document, and the van is mot exempt which is a bonus.

My question is obtaining a nova certificate if I drive the van to blighty myself.

They say the import paperwork / invoices etc must be provided to prove the car has arrived. In the absence of this what do I need to provide?

I've tried looking for a number to call but can't really find one. DVLA is no good as it's not them that deal with it.

Any experience with this?

On line service via GOV.UK if you have a Government gateway account, which everyone should do as you can do all sorts such as Driving Licence, Passport, Income Tax etc

Yes, as above, NOVA comes before DVLA in the registration process (for imports, barn-finds etc)so you will do it thru HM Revenue & Customs basically. Biggest problem imo with their site (Government Gateway etc) is that it covers everything so you can get a bit lost.

I actually did my NOVA application on paper, despite having a password etc for Government Gateway (as I'm self employed). The way I see it is the NOVA thing is a one-off for many ppl so why should you sign up for something that you won't use again.

I think it's important the paper form is still an option.

Just on the Government Gateway account... it’s not explained anywhere but you actually need a different Gateway account for each Government Agency (yet all of them are just called “your Government Gateway account...).

Just so you know, and don’t understand why your believed correct log in doesn’t work...
