I did a deal with this lovely old coupe against the big fat A6 I had previously with the intention of passing it on fairly quickly ...... well, 4 months later and I'm still using it daily lol. I've kind of been bitten by the V6 bug of late, having owned the 2.8 V6 Quattro before this and the famous black probe 2.5 V6 before that ! so 3 in a row for me so far. done a few little jobs so far ....... changed the front wipers back to normal ones instead of the horrid looking aero things that were on it, got the handbrake working again, tidied up the discs and calipers and replaced the original 15 inch alloys for some healthier looking 17 inch multispokes next on the list is MOT next month, after that it's going to get a bit of paintwork correction to release the pearl in the paint .

old aerial was not working at all, I suspected the power to the aerial was not working, so replaced with a lovely new item which also has a DAB connection. I now roll to the sound of absolute classic rock on DAB !!

I've got a real soft spot for these. One of my good friends had one when he was 18. Although it wasn't super fast it was so smooth and sounded fantastic.
I don't think I've seen any in that colour before. Looks good.

Thanks Tom, being the 2.6 engine it really is smooth yeah, it's quick enough for a fat lad though but in reality it's more of a sports tourer than a GTi, surprisingly economical ( it's all relative though lol ) for the size, averaging over 30mpg in mixed traffic etc. Lovely solid old coupe that still manages to turn heads at 22 years old, I'm not even sure what the colour is mate, but I agree it's a nice change from the usual colours you tend to see on these.

Really do love these and I think they are an appreciating classic, I certainly deeply regret selling mine, if time works out right again for me I’ll visit one again.
I think what will hold them back is that Audi seem do everything ‘right’ and for enthusiasts/tinkerers they are a little ‘boring’.
My coupe was on a K plate with a 2.0 engine, I later had an A3 with the 2.0T engine and both felt so well built and practical that they felt boring but solely down to the fact that there was nothing massively that could be improved upon.
I look forward to seeing where you go with this.

Ah well, MOT failed as the cat doesn't appear to be doing it's job very well. emissions were at 0.44 and apparently they should be under 0.3, so the eggplant needs a new cat which won't arrive till next week now, not a bad price from the garage tbh @ £120 fitted.
The MOT tester did remark on how clean and rust free the underside of the B4 was .... he said it was like looking at a 4 year old FORD ( not sure now if it was a compliment or not lol ) he said it was " absolutely solid with no rust problems at all " so I'm happy with that tbh, the old girl should be good for a few more years yet.

going to try and tidy up the black exterior plastics this weekend, they're getting faded and I have just found an out of date jar of smooth peanut butter in the cupboard, seems like fate don't it ?

MOT update ....... PASSED ! no advisories and a zero emissions result, and the eggplant will be gracing the roads of Teesside for a while yet , , you know .... she's a bit plump, done 180k, handles brilliantly and is still well at home on 17 inch wheels, giving out 180 or so horsepowers in luscious V6 style, does over 30 mpg, and pulls like the preverbial She's starting to grow on me lately this one ..........

couple of little improvements to the eggplant ..... got rid of the rear wiper, as with most coupes/hatches, it is just plain ugly. Then treated the derriere to a couple of shiny chrome tailpipe finishers, loads better imo it's the little things don'tcha know

Tell you what ...... these old beasts are well built. I was driving around today in torrential rain and there was barely a noise in the old girl...... in the Probe, it would have sounded like those cheap corrugated conservatory roofs such was the force of the wind/rain, and she remained totally planted on the road. no doubt helped by weighing the same as a small planet, I'm glad you all share the same love for these cars, they are so much better value than anything British of the same price-range, a real treat to ride around in and everything still works after 22 years !!!!. leccy windows, door locks, ALL the instrument lights do in fact, light up,
need to get the tracking sorted next payday as she's pulling lightly to the left, tyre pressures have been checked.

HID kit fitted, makes a HUGE difference.
Just before anybody gets carried away, worrying about me blinding oncoming traffic etc, they are set correctly by my local garage so as not to be a nuisance to other road users/hedgehogs etc etc
