Hi, just a couple of quick questions.
I have been offered an astra van for a cheap price and need to find out how much the insurance is going to cost before I buy it. The problem I have got is that I have been on a classic policy for about twenty years and have zero no claims bonus, the company I am with for my classics says that the van is to modern for them to insure ( 2007 plate ) and that they will not do vans on a multicar policy, they have stated that I would need to take out a trade or commercial policy to insure it with them.
So if anyone can recommend a company that will take my years of not having any claims while driving on a classic policy into account that would be great.
Also I would like any opinions on the van I have been offered, the van is a 57 plate astra van ( silver ) 1.7cdti, fully loaded options, low miles, bodywork in very good condition ( no dents, scratches or rust ), been panelled out inside, clean unworn seats and interior, all for the price of £400. The reason it is so cheap is that the engine needs a rebuild ( new head and 1 piston ) as it suffered a diesel runaway ( possibly due to leaking turbo seals ) and jumped its timing belt, also to take into consideration is that it has got the six speed m32 gearbox which will need modifying to take the later larger bearings if I want get any long use out of it.
Any opinions and advice would helpful.
Thanks in advance.
Karl.
