I'm thinking Shogun/Pajero turbodiesel.
A more modern replacement I picked up a Kia Rio 1.5 CRDi one similar size and shape recently, perfect for under the bonnet of a MK2 Golf and easy and cheap to come by.

By jingo I think you have only gone and bloomin' cracked it. Closest I have found was a Transit or MR2. Excelllent work, me and Mrs Generallee are "intercooler blind" from hours of googling. I was trying to think of Manufacturers who offered turbos in the early nineties and forgot about Ford.
Standard Series 2 RS it is. Bloody well done.

Yep. Put one of these on my old metro. From the days before turbo diesels were common and everything had an intercooler.

Cheers again chaps. I went to the main stealer, Ford computer is showing one in Luxemburg. It wasn't cheap. Got a secondhand 'un off eBay. Seems OK, much better than the old one. It arrived in an amusing box. So, thanks again. Much faffing around averted by the power of RR.
