I've been a long long time fan of this event. When it came time to plan this year's holidays and my lovely lady wife asked if there were any car shows I wanted to head to in Japan it was a toss up between Yokohama Hot Rod and Custom show and the All Odds Nationals, given that we have a holiday planned for January going on another in December seemed excessive. So Mooneyes All Odds Nationals became our show of choice. The venue is one of the car parks around Odaiba which is an entertainment area on the bay, this confused our taxi driver a bit, but it isn't he first time I've had that experience in Japan (Simon and I went to the equivalent of Halfords by taxi a few years back and the driver looked at us like we were crazy). To make matters a bit more interesting there was a big old typhoon sweeping across the country on the day of the show, so weather was always going to be a bit of an issue. As it turned out it started out a bit drizzly and then dried up pretty early. The show was to be curtailed to finish at 12pm instead of its planned 3pm, in order to give people time to travel back home safely. The event has a theme each year and this year was Nissan Y30 and 430, as well as incorporating the CROWN Classic Reunion. The show is a great mix of stuff from across the spectrum of modified older cars (as well as a few moderns thrown in). It was a touch smaller than I expected to be honest, whilst this was in part due to the in coming weather, it was also a size limit of the car parking area, so I'm assuming Street Car Nationals are of similar size. Still plenty to see and admire. Let's start with the Mooneyes car and van by the entrance Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr This won the car of the show and well deserved too Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Quality everywhere Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr This was one of my favourites Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr This too Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Oh and this one Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Ah .. yeah this one too Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr I think this was definitely my number one though Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2018 by Retro Rides, on Flickr .... hang tight more to come ...

That A30 Gloria with its primer patches and slots is wonderful. The Laurel coupe equally so.

Can't believe we were both there and I missed you.
They're so amazingly welcoming over there.
You've made this site so large and successful it's too hard to keep up!

Can't believe we were both there and I missed you. They're so amazingly welcoming over there. It is literally unbelievable!! It isn't even that big of a show, so I should have been able to see another gaijin. Met an American chap called Rob who was super nice. Friend of mine who lives there said that he has found that Japanese people love life and (for the most part) are not cynical people, which sort of goes part way to explaining why they are unafraid to go all in on things. I really want to go to a JCCS meeting and to go back to NHOA as well. So much to see and do!

Great pics, I'm very envious.
I've found out today that I'm going to Japan in a couple of weeks, I don't know whats on, nothing much on the Mooneyes website.
Do you know of an online Japan petrolheads calendar of events, it would be great to drop in on something good like you did if possible?

Sometimes events are tricky to find out about but there are some calendars, only problem is that Japan is pretty huge so they may be on the other side of the country ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

In this shot, the chap on the far right is Mamoru. To the left of him is the editor of his magazine. Mamoru found pictures of my Gloria wagon on Flickr, contacted me and then put it in their magazine so it was good to meet the man behind that. Real nice dude which as you will know, is par for the course with Japan. You must have been there a bit later than I to catch prize-giving, etc. We did the rounds and chatted to a few people and then hit the train back into Tokyo to do a bit of last minute shopping before the dash home. Which magazine was it in? That is a pretty cool thing! We arrived as it opened and then left about half an hour after prize giving, probably around 11:30-ish as they were planning to shut down about 12. Oh I remembered another car thing I did, went to Bingo Sports because it was just outside my hotel, will put up my pictures from that in a separate thread ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I so love that people speak the same language around the world.
Reaching out and speaking to strangers is a pretty awesome thing to do, and so rewarding.
Always good to hear it goes on elsewhere.
I suspect I would be torn between the wagons and pickups
Thank you for sharing.

I'll be with my non car loving workmate the first weekend, but we might be giving the mariokarts a try. I'll be on my own and able to try finding car things on the weekend of 10th & 11th November. We will be based in Omiya, which doesnt have anything much but its not bad for travel to Tokyo and Yokohama, and probably other places.

There isnt anything happening at Mooneyes according to the website, just an advery for some bike racing which I'm not too bothered about to be honest.

I'll be there from 30th October to 18th November, so 2 weekends. We will be based in Omiya, which doesnt have anything much but its not bad for travel to Tokyo and Yokohama, and probably other places. Omiya is beautiful and yeah, the greater Tokyo area is easy as hell to travel around on the JR line. If you find no specific car events as such you can try visit Daikoku PA which you can either get a super expensive taxi or rent a car for a few nights from Toyota (we rented one for 3 weeks for a 5000km journey after spending 1 week in Tokyo). We did a lot of searching for classic car related car sales as well as vintage garages/workshops. So we visited the Red Megaphone dealership (which is just a dude almost in his house with some legit stock), Flex net. We tried to visit MS-Mushashino which is in the Omiya area but sadly their stock was all modern and average so they may have another yard. We also visited a stack of Up Garages in whatever prefecture and city we passed through just in case we found a gem of an old car part for sale. RS-Start is close to Omiya as well, I bought a rear GT-R badge for my 110 from there. Even just wandering around you see some amazing things parked up in seemingly abandoned (almost always they are not). Back on topic though. Ah Neo Classic, great little magazine chris y are you leaving on the 18th? This is on in the same area as the Mooneyes meet and is a much bigger event : www.oldtimer.jp/tengoku/ ... the car parks that surround it have all sorts of stuff in too including a bosozoku style car meet up. Which would also mean a Daikoku Futo trip on the Friday or Saturday would be probably be entertaining. Note they usually shut that down at 9pm on a Saturday, Friday is apparently allowed to go on later.
