So, it's "that" time of year again for me, and I've just had my renewal quote from my existing insurer. I notice it's gone up by thirty quid. Not a massive lot in the grand scheme of things, but when I was paying £180 last year it's a noticeable hike. So living in 21st century Britain must have it's advantages so I decide to visit one of those price comparison sites (the one advertised by annoying rodents, rather than the one advertised by an annoying singer) expecting to find a better quote. How wrong I was. not only was the cheapest quote even higher than the renewal price, the quote from my existing insurance company was a full £50 dearer via the comparison site. So now I know how they can afford to give away all those cinema tickets and free meals. Guess I'll be sticking with the devil I know then. In penance for this boring thread have some cool if utterly irrelevant cars.

I know what you are saying about insurance company's putting the renewal every year, on my modded classic my company have put the premium up by about £50 every year ( about 3 years ago they put it up by about £100 ) and am paying nearly £600 a year on 1500 mile limited policy and I will probably have to take the mods out and return the car to nearly stock to keep it on the road at a sensible price.

Funnily enough I've just sorted out my insurance today. After ringing a few specialists I tried Gocompare and it got me the cheapest price by £30. They now also search through classic/specialist insurers! £80 cheaper than last year.
