These wheels were running around on an MOT'd car with no problem but I have just taken them off and noticed this dent in the rim Would this be an MOT failure? Is it actually dangerous?

Nope, not an MOT fail unless the tester was a complete and utter fox picture Had worse than that at work, bit of tyre bead sealer and they stay inflated and surprisingly balance up ok! I wouldn't be concerned if that wheel was on my own vehicle

Thanks for that
My main concern is I want to sell them. But that's another story 🙄

put it on a hub and spin it and have a look to see if the tyre is running true
I have had them like that, and have had success getting them rounder by using blocks of wood and bottle jack within the wheel and applying pressure to round it up
there is obvously a limit as to how much you can do while keeping the wheel sound.

There are companies out there that will straighten that for you on a specialist piece of expensive kit but they are good at what they do -depends on what price you put on straight wheels though has its's £60 + vat for getting something like that sorted

I've had two wheels like that fixed. Look for a local wheel refurb place, they'll either be able to fix them or will know someone else who can. IIRC it cost about £35 per wheel, but that was several years ago.
