So at last years restoration show I found a way that was acceptable for undertaking panel fabrication / welding / use of angle grinders etc for the club stand Welding tent But the welding screen has to go over the doorway when any welding / grinding is happening and then people cant see what's happing - by popular demand I have been asked to do some more panel work / welding at this years show - now what I really would like is a static camera that picks up what's happening behind the screen and then transmits / displays it to a monitor - sourcing the monitor is not a problem just a large flat screen TV but I haven't a scooby doo has to what else is required - can you just place a camera and can it transmit directly via a lead to the screen or does it have be routed via a box of tricks ? Now - if it can be done (an I am sure it can) it needs to be has simple has the word simple and I have no budget - is there anyone there that could help / advise please - thanks Chris PS I only have about 6 weeks to sort / organise this

Chris a Lap top with a SVHS plug and a lead to connect it to the TV Monitor and good quality webcam should do.
Give me a ring tomorrow if you need?
I'm sure you good lady would know of a tec guy at pinewood that would be able to advise?

surely to make ti easier, anything with hdmi output lead plugged straight to the tv as a monitor would do it?

But having said that I think most cheap video cameras would come with the necessary cabling to plug directly into a modern TV to convert the TV into a monitor for the camera. This might be a bit easier to position for maximum viewing than a laptop would be.

I say think because it says it is for laptop or desktop but can’t see why a tv wouldn’t pick up the image / sound. I guess smart TVs are pretty much PCs any way inside. It all depends on whether it needs an app of some sort to display the image. I bought one of those cheap ebay USB endoscope things, and the compatibility list is down to what platforms they have written a viewer app for, because something needs to grab the video and display it. I'd also be thinking of a video camera if anyone still has one, rather than something intended for use with a PC or phone.

I am using a cheap security camera plugged directly into the av socket of a tv. An old flat screen, pre digital tv (one that won't pick up live tv signals without a set top box) is ideal. If you want a zoom lens to frame the images, any old video camera would work in the same way. Just be careful that the welding flash doesn't burn out the canera pick up as it may be like looking directly at the sun with unprotected eyes

It may be even easier still depending on what phone you have. If you have something with usb-c you can use a usb to hdmi lead and mirror the display on any tv.

Chris. Did you sort out your remote monitor problem. Just thought that if you use an old video camera, you can record what you are doing and play back when nothing much is happening on the stand. Link in a laptop or dvd player and you can play club stuff or the photos you have taken from your numerous projects.

Link in a laptop or dvd player and you can play club stuff or the photos you have taken from your numerous projects. I have delegated the task to the Jowett Car Clubs webmaster but with explicit instructions to keep it simple has simple can be although I don't hold out much hope has he is famed for his over complicating of the simplest of tasks - he did start banging on about split screen viewing options on the monitor, playing back, second camera etc which I don't want - There is never dull moment on the Restoration Show club stand and its always a hive of activity so I don't want anything that detracts from the live restoration work that is happening in front of the shows attendance - has I explained to him if they want to watch welding video's they can do that anytime on their phones & laptops via YouTube - but nothing beats the team beating the living daylights out of seized suspension bolt or the sparks flying in the fabrication department - You still planning on a visit ?
