Recently bought an A6 Avant and the radio has no reception at all. When I'm in the town the Heart is the only one I got, but as soon as I leave the town starts scratching and fades away. Heard several opinions, amplifier and cable connection, somebody even blames the tinted windows..
Anybody has any idea, or know some one who could find out the problem? Live in Northants.

Most of the later cars have the ariel in the rear screen and one or two amps either in the tailgate or 1/4 panel area
It's most likely to be one of the amps but not all the time
I had the same problem on a BMW e39 touring but the amps are quite expensive to replace as a trial and error diagnostics
So I cheated and replaced the head unit with a DAB one and fitted a different ariel

Is the radio the original one, and has it been out? I swapped the radio in my Audi coupe years ago, didn't connect the electric aerial wire as it didn't have an electric aerial, and got little to no radio reception. It turns out that's the power source for the aerial amplifier. Once I re-connected that, it was fine.
