I'm currently changing to power steering using a Suzuki steering box and drop arm, currently fabricating a new draglink and need to connect parts of different sizes. Does anyone have a solution to increase the tapered hole in the drop arm ( pitman) out to take the larger tie rod end. Also the drag link currently is a solid bar but of no use , so I am thinking of replacing with a new cold drawn seamless, any views on this please? The steering box has a 30 spline x 14.7mm diameter shaft that I need to make a straight connection to. This is a bit of a stumbling block as they seem to be like hens teeth and wonder if other cars used this size?? Many thanks , look forward to replies.

Re the ball joint taper. It might just about be possible (anything's possible but I'm talking affordable possible) to hold that in a 4 jaw chuck and tickle it out a bit larger on a lathe. Otherwise you probably need a taper reamer which may have to be custom made.
I think the drag link will be ok if fabricated well.

I have the correct taper reamer for 95% of track rod ends, 7degrees. Only ones ive ever encountered that were different were Land Rover. Early ford are most certainly 7 degrees as that’s why I have it.

Also, pretty much all spline profiles are imperial. I recently had to do one on a Mazda steering box and i sourced the correct UJ from the states. I’d go count those splines again as it sounds as though it could be 19/32”-29 which is a standard easily available size.

Pretty sure you can buy splined ends from Car builder solutions for not a lot of coin...

Thanks Des , 7 degrees is correct and have had a search and prove to be expensive for a "one off use" so will change the tapered hole in the drop arm to a parallel hole and fit a bolt with a "rod end " I will certainly have another measure up to confirm the spline count. Do you happen to know where this 19/32 x 29 part is available from or where it is used? Thanks

Had a measure up and things are definitely 30 spline 14.5mm diameter, so I guess the Suzuki part is the only way forward. Thanks for the offer Des. Much appreciated.
