Weird question. I know somewhere in the past 15 years on this or another forum we looked at modified bicycle frames. One if I recall correctly was a Raleigh ladies bike that had the top tubes at the rear cut away to create an instant low rider. Anyone remember this or similar style bikes or the thread? Thank you. Not this low.

Hey Grizz, Your memory doesn't fail you..... There was a thread (which I can't find either, although I'm sure I posted on it). Best 'donor bike' was a 70's or 80's girls racer. 1) cut the upper rear stays off from the top of the seat post. 2) cut the seat post around about the letter C in FALCON 3) heat and bend the cut upper stays down and re-weld them to the seat post roughly there the letter N is 4) fit a chopper saddle to the now shortened seat post 5) 'cut & shut' the front forks using inserts of steel tube to make the front forks as long as you want 6) fit chopper handlebars and a small diameter front wheel and cruise the streets looking bad-ass! Proper instructions and ideas for loads of cheap bike builds can be found in the book 'Atomic Zombie's Bicycle Builder's Bonanza'. I've got a copy - remind me to lend it to you when I see you next.

Currently driving a '68 Karmann Ghia as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!

I've done quite a few using shopping bikes. Just cut the tubes off at the seat fork and grind the remains off then sit on it till it drops to the right height then cut any excess off, G clamp them to the seat tube and weld them back on. For the front forks it's easiest to take them off, take the wheel off then use the nearest grate in the road to bend them till they're dropped the right amount.

It was a Raleigh Mixte, twin top tubes like a Chopper, cut the seat post down, instant low rider
