Can you not fit a 12"wide wheel with the appropriate offset onto you drw axle? (Possibly get the standard inner wheel banded to 12"?).
To keep on the right side of the law (especially if you are ever unllucky enough to be pulled by vosa) you probably should down plate it to match the new tyres as well.

Yeah i can have the wheels banded but tyre choice is limited for 16" wheels, there are 295 width tyres but they are more like 4x4 tyres so large sidewalls, If i change to 5 stud axle wheel choice is better and therefore opens up tyre choices. Still not 100% on tyre size but will be going wide,

Well not to much to report apart from my new rear wheels have arrived today. They are only 8" wide so will need to be banded, looking at 12" wide with 315/35-20 tyres The picture shows the size compared to my 17" front wheels

Well a milestone was reached today. I have finally got my new rose jointed top mounts, only been waiting since February, but any way they are here and they work a treat. I done a bit of planning and hopefully they will do what i need them to do. So the front air suspension is a go now. Full steam ahead. Lol. Gonna have to work out my ride hight and finish making the lower adapters. Most of the airlines, wiring and solenoids are in. Just need to get some fittings for the top of the struts. I'm sure they 1/4 NPT but not 100%, they could and should be 1/8 BSP. Will double check and order the right fittings. Anyway hopefully a few more weeks and the truck will be able to drop it like its hot. Ha ha 😂

Well i managed to grab an hour after work this evening. So i thought I would attack my new rear axle. After some cutting, plenty of sanding and lots of sweating i managed to get all the old mounts cut of and cleaned up, still got the other side to do but that will have to wait for now

Well today has been a massive headache to say the least. I got my 2 90° 1/8 npt banjo fittings last night so i thought I would take my air suspension into work and have a play about this evening. Well this morning before work I tried the fittings into the suspension and they fit like a dream but they where sticking up quite a bit. I new this would be the case when i worked out the top mounts but i didn't think they would be this big. I looked and spoke with the other 2 lads at work and it seemed like the top mounts would not work or would need to be altered bits changed, a massive time and money exercise. Wasnt happy to say the least. I said I'm sure we are over thinking this and there must be another way around the clearance issue. Well as the day went on i kept thinking, going back and looking at the shocks, the top mounts ect. Then it hit me. Why does the air inlet port have to be where it is, i.e under the top mounts, why cant it be moved. So a quick call to my friend Jon the local land-rover specialist to see if he had any damaged struts i could play about with. He was passing about an hour later and dropped an old shock off. I set to and stripped it to bits. I needed to look at the inside of the airline port. Well my thinking seemed like it might be possible. Now would there be enough material to use for a new thread. Would the new position allow air in and out as it should. Well long long story short, yes i was able to move the air inlet port, yes it seems to have enough material for the 1/8 NPT thread. Yes it allows the top mounts to be fitted, yes it allowed air to move in and out. Well after that massive problem has been avoided i ordered some 1/8 NPT blanking plugs for the original air ports. So hopefully they will arrive and i can work on actual getting them fitted.

Are the blue push for air lines into the strut just for testing or are you planning on running them? In case you don’t know you can’t run them like that to a strut in use, you have to have a stainless braided leader line.

Cause most modern car with air suspension have plastic lines with brass type fitting. So just a bit confused. I plan to get braided lines made but struggling to find any at the minute

If the strut turns with the steering like transit ones do, you have to have something like this- It does the same job as a flexi hose does in your brake system. Push fits will leak if they’re moved around in use, and eventually pop out.

Well this evening has been a mixed bunch of results, but long story short the front shocks will work. We have worked out the lower mounts so they can be finished of. Need to get some wheel spacers to push the wheels out to gain extra clearance for the air bag. Well here it is full up and fully down, ride height will be somewhere in the middle.

Well life has thrown me a curve ball and half. I'm now recovering from emergency surgery. Turns out the small marble lump i had just above my bellybutton was a hernia. This quickly got bigger to a 3cm plus ball that had popped out my muscle and couldn't pop back in as everything around it had compressed. So last monday afternoon i left work and popped up to see the doctor and they said get straight to hospital and i would need emergency surgery as i had a strangled hernia. So got organised and headed to the hospital. Long Story later, i now have a cut across my stomach about 5" long. Bit of a shock when i woke up on the ward as they said it would have only been 1" cut. So I'm guessing they hernia was bigger than the 3cm ball that was on the outside. Well this has put an end to by full steam ahead of getting my suspension swapped over. Anyway I'm back to work on Monday, ( light dutys) and i have spoken to the 2 other mechanic's about wanting to get the suspension swapped over asap as i have booked to go to transit mainia on the 16th July. They have both said they would basically swap it all over for me. What a relief. On other news Father's day has come and gone and my wife got me a pair of new front wings for the truck of the kids. My boss came and grabbed them Thursday lunchtime to take to the body shop. I had a message that evening from my boss, a pair of painted front wings. I thought he was messing about but no they have been painted, baked and brought back to work within 4 or 5 hours. So hopefully i now have 2 1/2 ish weeks to get the suspension swapped and working, replace the front wings and fit a new front bumper. Who knows if its possible as I'm probably only running at about 30% of normal service. Time will tell

I think we all take day to day life for granted. When something happens like what you've experienced, it really does make you stop and think. On the plus side, it also shows who's there to support you when you need it most.
I hope you have a speedy recovery. Don't over do it, but I hope you can get back on the Transit project soon 👍

Thanks for your kind words guys. Yeah the boys at work are a great bunch. We all try and keep Tuesday and Thursday evenings free to sort or help each other out with daily drivers or projects we have. Well i have been thinking about the front suspension swap and it worked out that the inside of my wheels where to close to the airbag shielding so the wheels need to be spaced out by 3/4 of an inch minimum so i ordered some 1" hub centric spacer to get the clearance. Well i have a spare pair of 17" wheels i run on the front so i spoke to www.bandedsteelwheels.co.uk and explained that i would want the wheels the same overall width but the centre moved in so i could get rid of the spacers. This should give me an inch more dish on the outside of the wheel. He said its no problem so i have them in the truck to take to work to book a courier to get them down to banded wheels asap. Who knows might be back ready for the show but not an issue if there not

As said above, things like this show your real mates (though to be fair, probably it shows your mates who can spanner in this case)
Good luck, but also don’t take your recovery for granted…. got to play the long game

Well work hasn't been to bad the last few days, being able to just tinker and not being pushed. Well this evening my brother -in-law offered to help me swap over my wings and fit my replacement bumper. It went quite well had to replace a few bolta that where missing and a bit of messing to line up the panels but overall nothing to bad. It looks very different now but really shows how bad the rest of the paintwork is. Oh well its a step forward and less rust. I also managed to sand down the welds on the bottom shock mounts, sealed them and gave them a paint. I also tried my new stainless steel air lines. They should work well as they will enter the truck through a hole in the top of the shock tower.
