I've just removed the Motorola radio from my Humber Hawk due to it being a radio only unit, albeit updated with a remote input.
Can anyone suggest a retro style cd player/ radio that will not make my eyes water when I ask the cost!
Ta very muchly.

I don't know how retro you want it, but ive only got one answer for this sort of question. Pioneer P77MP I think Retrosound radios might be more what your looking for, but rather costy.

I've had 2 of those head units. The Pioneer P77-MP is a great bit of kit. In terms of sound quality, not much below its value will beat it these days. They have an equaliser and crossovers which can help protect the speakers when tuned right, tailor the sound more for you to a degree, but also give you options if you want to go crazy (amps, subs etc. like I have done in the Merc; I was very thankful for that when I drove it to France). But for me, I'd want more toys. Bluetooth being a good example; it comes in very handy with Sat-Nav, especially if like me, you use your daily at times to commute and use the sat-nav as an 'eye in the sky' for the traffic. God I love the M6, not... The Retrosound ones are OK and will do everything you need. They may not have the tuneability of the Pioneer but they are half decent. I wouldn't buy their speakers unless you fancy a mono speaker that takes a stereo input, but otherwise, they're OK. If I get another head unit again, it would probably be the Pioneer P88-RS. It looks retro(ish) and is superb flexible in terms of tuning, and looks great. Secondhand though, they are strong on the cash, and I suspect they will be for a very long time; Pioneer probably won't make something like that again as the market changes. If you can get creative however, I've be tempted to buy a double DIN Android Auto/CarPlay head unit, and fit it in so that it is not obvious until it is turned on . Think the Sony in my M3, but mounted under the dash carefully with a custom made pod . With a Single DIN chassis, it would be easier to do than you think with the Sony. The screen can also be turned off to make it a little more stealthy as well .
