I'm looking to cover my 2 cars in the garage over winter as they get seriously dusty in there and come spring look abandoned.
I'm looking at these rolls of bodyshop clear plastic cling sheeting. My thoughts are it clings to the body so wont move and rub in any drafts, its waterproof in case the garage drips and I can take it off, throw it away and cover with another sections when required, therefore not dragging dust from the last use over the car when covering again. It also sorts the issue of where do you store a big fabric car cover when its not in use?
Are there any downsides to using this stuff for this purpose that I'm ignorant to?

I see no issues as long as the cars are dry when you cover them, ive been considering this myself so am interested in what other people know.

Following this with interest.
I'd be particularly interested in a heavy duty version that resist angle-grinder sparks, as I'm forced to work on my car a half at a time due to a small-ish garage.

My concern could be trapped water but I'd be sure to leave the cars to properly dry out before covering. and I only cover them over winter or after a clean a day before a show.
The appealing thing to me is it shouldn't move against the paint and scuff it, and its removed by folding inwards and disposed of with the dust that's settled. Next time, pull off the roll and a clean fresh cover.
Hopefully someone in the bodyshop or storage industry will be along to advise.

At work we currently have 14 classic cars stored for winter They all have indoor dust covers on and then we put the poly sheet over that Some sit there for years but still look good once uncovered

Leaving any car covered you always risk trapping moisture, that would be my only concern. The polly wrap we bag cars up with to paint,I cant see an issue with, it's designed to go on 1 way as 1 side attracts the overspray to it too. I do paint repairs at a big name prestige dealership, and they have a few classics round the back covered over with specialist covers for the cars.... unfortunately been outside any moisture that runs along the floor underneath is able to evaporate up, which has made a real mess of a 250k car that was mint when parked up, now the wheels are rusty, and there are rust spots on the doors
