Afternoon all, Due to personal circumstances Ill shortly be looking for a camper, not too bothered about interior condition, but needs to have an MOT. A bed is a must, but single or double doesn’t matter. Don't want a VW, already had a bay window and (1) it is now out of my price range and (2) it holds the title of ‘the worst vehicle I've ever owned.’ Not overly keen on Renaults either, i don't enjoy stripping the whole vehicle down to replace a headlamp bulb, and so forth. So what have you had, and how good was it,, would you have another etc, budget is going to hopefully be about £3k, unless i can find someone who wants to swap for a 1979 minivan in kit form!

I only work on camper vans and motorhomes. I wouldn't take a present of a Transit, the Renault Master van is actually quite simple and basic, aside from double wishbone front suspension on the 04-12 shape. The 2.5dci is good, frugal engine too. But my favourite van is still the Fiat (or Pug/Citroën) variant Ducato, in 2.8 JTD up to 06, and 2.3 JTD after. Good strong engines, they don't leak oil, economy and power are good, and any problems are simple.

Whether you believe you can, or you cannot, you're probably right.

We looked at van based campers but then SWMBO spotted this Toyota Granvia , it’s a J import people carrier that’s been professionally converted, ours was way over your budget to purchase but there are cheaper ones out there , ours is the 3.4 V6 petrol (which I love !) but the 3.0 td diesel is loved by all who have it, might not be your cup of tea but worth a look imho 🙂

Bongo Friendee? Apart from Mazdas are generally very reliable, they're factory fitted with all the wiring and lights and stuff that are pretty much essential to a working camper. Comparatively affordable too EDIT: and best vehicle name ever

Doesn't the Friendee rot like an old Fiat?
The diesel engine sufferes horribly from coolant issues causing major damage to the head as well.
Shame as they're great
