I may be getting hold of a Sherpa chassis and having ideas of a cabover style slammed truck with a half decent modern motor in it.
Any examples about? I can only find a R&S thread whete there just chatting about LDV vans/trucks etc

Here’s the Sherpa, the owner wants to keep the cab There maybe also be a chance of a cab similar to this The only problem with that is the body is a good 15” wider than the chassis

Isn't a Sherpa monocoque? Vans and the trucks with the panels attached to the body are. This one is an ex BT that had the separate box on the back

I'm 95% certain that they are welded not bolted to the chassis
And the V8 came in the fright rover version Very popular with the police and ambulance services

They’re a monocoque chassi-cab like a transit iirc. About the only post 60s van/truck that isnt is an Iveco

The Dodge 50 series (later known has the Renault 50 Series) built from 1978 through to 1993 is a separate chassis light commercial - I think Mitsubishi also built a light commercial that was on a separate chassis

nissan's cabstar is a mini truck, cab tilts forwards like bigger trucks, have one at work, only a 3.5tonner too.
Mitsubishi have the canter in narrow and wide cab.

does the method of attachment (welds...bolts..cable ties..blutak) decide if its a "seperate" chassis or not?

Yeah, plus in most cases it will be a full monocoque front end with the rails welded to it (if that makes sense) Cabstar or early Iveco is the way forward for this type of thing, or heavily cut down a TK cab onto summit like a p4 chassis, could be interesting

Yeah that’s what clicked when I saw this one as I’m told he’s using the cab for another chassis he has, when I can get a proper look at it I will report back
