I love the look of the orange C34 on the black wide wheels with MN tyres, but they just don't work on an unmodified C34 tub. So it's getting the polished 'slots' and the C44 can have the big wheels. I will at some point drill the shocks to get a few mm of extra droop, but might add some bumpstops to the front to limit tyre contact on the front arches. I'll have to make it a bobbed bumper too. The 3s lipo came too, it's not transformed the single speed '34 in quite the way I hoped, but it is a big improvement. It now runs at a reasonable walking pace and has bags of tourque. Full comparison with the 2S powered '34 and '44 with the two speeds at some point. The 3S and reciever fit under the bonnet, the ESC is currently in the passenger seat but will get tucked underneath at some point.

Little run out yesterday. I need to make a bigger battery crate to hide the 2s lipo and wiring. Oh, and my servo is well and truly toast, so that needs replacing

Had a bit of a play with George's C34 over the weekend. We've been quite surprised by how much better my two speed C44 is running MN wheels/tyres than his C34, that also has a two speed and MN wheels/tyres. We tried lifting it on aftermarket shocks, but these were too stiff and offered less travel, so decided to take it back to stock, this of course lead to massive tyre scrub. It also could have contributed to the early demise of a rear axle pinion. We decided to bite the bullet and try taking that to long wheelbase spec, but keep the C34 tub. This required some cutting.... The arches have been cut 5mm higher and the tub corners removed completely. I haven't measured departure angle yet, but it'll be huge, particularly with the spare removed.

markbognor I love the mods on the blue C34 and very neatly done too. I would be inclined to leave the spare on the back to keep some weight over the back for when tackling tricky descents 😎

Hi folks! Here are a couple of pics of my C44 out in the garden. The one from the back shows the working rear lights, cut down upright section on the load bed, right hand drive conversion and the metal rear bumper. It has been performing well and the transmitter and receiver seem like a good buy. I can turn the lights on and off independently of the truck moving. The one thing I have noticed is that the lights go off when the winch is working - presumably so as not to dazzle the winch operator?! The additional winch controller and lights controller have made space under the bonnet tight but I have managed to fit it all in and does look reasonably tidy. It was my birthday yesterday and the 'prize fund' is looking pretty healthy so I may be ordering an MN99 soon. I will price up the various upgrades before I commit...not sure I will get away with it a second time!

Looking good Skodacious! From what I've seen of MN trucks pretty much everything is going to need upgrading from the get go - it might almost be worth buying another C44KM, and a separate MN body kit or the cheapest version you can - I might even be persuaded to buy the surplus C44 body set ;-)
C44KM's listed under £60 on Bangood at the mo.

markbognor the new bumper gives it a very purposeful look - is it going to get the winch mounted on it? Also what is it made from? Tomorrow I hope to have time to do the required 'man maths' to work out the costs of a WPL with an MN 90 body or to get an MN96/99 and then do the axles, wheels, gearbox and radio gear. The thing I don't know is what the wheelbase of the MN is vs. the C44 so will do some Googling.

The thing I don't know is what the wheelbase of the MN is vs. the C44 so will do some Googling. I think you may need to reduce the rear back to using a short shaft - like setting up a C34. C34 wheelbase is 180mm give or take. I've just asked on the MN page for the MN99 wheelbase. The bumper is made from 1.6mm GRP sheet (like printed circuit board material) it's the same as I use for my slot car chassis. The bumper bar is two layers, the irons are just one. There's not enough space for a winch on this one - George has one on his C34 that's enough to satisfy that novelty, and means I can run the car on 3 channel radio - which I've just swapped over to this afternoon. Now we can run all three cars together without interference from the two WPL boards.

I've got two sets of WPL V3 Sound Board / combined Reciever ESC here that are now surplus to requirements. They are early boards with the development firmware (released by WPL by mistake or something) so can't be used together without interference. But all other functions work as they should. Both have silicone leads and deans connectors soldered to the battery posts and come with the speakers. Anybody interested in one for £15 posted?
